Pics & in-car video from Proformance lapping day Aug 26
I just went to another lapping event hosted by Proformance racing school on this Wednesday Aug26 with Ben & some other guys from A&J Racing. The outside temperature was a bit cooler than last event in July, say roughly around 26c this time. Definitely a lot cooler in the morning.
I ran the same suspension, alignment, tires & rim setup as last time. But for intake & exhaust wise I bought a brand new K&N in box filter(yeah right not too much difference) & borrowed my buddies T1R v1 muffler. It definitely revved up faster this time & the exhaust sounds great on the track.
I tried out different ways of driving this road course this time. I think I STILL can smooth out the steering & throttle input at turn 5a-b & turn 6, but then I think I definitely need to go back with R compounds & more front negative camber next time. I tried to play with tire pressure a lot this time. I started from 31psi cold, jumped right up to front 37psi(after first few warm up laps), brought it back down to hot pressure 32psi(F)/30psi(R), then 28psi(F)/28psi(R)...quite neutral but still gets pretty greasy and I finally dropped it to 27psi(F)/27psi(R) and still the same thing.
How my tires look like after the 3rd session....

Oh yeah sorry I went to Pacific Raceway at Kent, WA. I think my lap time is AROUND 2min flat or so. Here are the 1st two videos, I'm gonna post up more videos & pics later today:

Yeah it was a lot of fun.
This is how I packed up my car. The snow tires are just in case I got nail in my tire on the highway, probably easier to slap two tires on than plugging a tire on the side of I-5.....

And still have room to pickup two more tires that I bought online few weeks ago...

I did a total of 4 sessions the whole day. I could do one more if I didn't have to drive 2hrs+ back to Vancouver that night. The Mfactory 4.7 final gear, T1R/Exedy clutch set & Ferodo pads hold up really well. I bled the clutch & brake fluid before the event and clutch feel was very very consistant the whole day. I can late brake into turn2 once in awhile without worrying about the brakes over heating, the stupid RT615 overheated before everything anyway. No weird noise from the car at all which is great.
I was monitoring the intake air temperature & coolant temperature with the scan gaugeII for the whole day. Intake air temperature was below 40c during the afternoon, and coolant temperature did not reach over 80c when I was pushing it hard. Thanks to the SPOON low temp thermostat which I installed just before the event, coolant temperature was about 10c lower compare with last event in July. It still warm up when the engine is idling & when I'm in the traffic but as soon as the car starts to move, temperature drops.
Here are some other pictures from the event:
Probably the best e46 m3 that I've ever seen, all go no show, everything is CLEAN! The guy is really nice plus he's FAST!!!!

Maybe that's just me but this is the first Moton equipped M3 that I've ever seen........

Welded in roll bar...well I don't think a poser would do that

Looks pretty stock & of coz hella fast too....

Really like how this exhaust sound on the Exige S, I think the tip could point up a lil more tho

The guys from A&J racing.....the guy who bought Ben's time attack S2k was there too!

Ben's new GT-R, gosh the T1R exhaust sounds crazy!

Another bunch of guys who drove down from Vancouver.....

The lighter the better! I'll do the same thing next year........

The lady in the porsche swinged her arm out to give me a point by when I was going uphill, that was the first time I said something. And when she gave another point by on the front straight, she shoulda stay to the right & let off the throttle but she didn't do that til the last minute. Don Kitch(the chief instructor) said that in the driver's meeting but maybe she forgot about that. I didn't try to follow too close coz I don't want to have any surprise. I just wanna have fun & drive the car home.
Anyway......this is the last event for me in the 09 season. HUGE thanks to my brother Eric & his buddy Joe, Pat @ Mfactory, Ben @ A&J racing, Leo aka Chickz_magnet etc etc on all the help in this season. U guys are the BEST!
