Wow Ray, even in death Viv starts controversy! I really think you should forward your undercarraige pics to the R&D dept at American Honda. They could spend years analyzing your car! Wearing clean through the lower arm mounts in the sub-frame is epic, plain and simple ( as I swing side to side on deez) Can I have your lip! LOL JFWY. I'm sorry that Viv died, but she died like she lived, and like you said, sucks to roll hard... It would be funny to take her back to stock (supension wise) before junking her, just to watch people try to figure out what the hell happened to this car!

dam ray, its been awhile since ive been active on this site and i come back to this?

shit man, i too have watched the progress of your car as i always envied your car. but shit happens, and it sucks. but we all move on.....

honestly i cant wait to see what will be your next car, as you always seem to have a touch on whatever car it may be. apparently it runs in the family as your dad has a really nice truck.

good or bad driver it dont matter, because i think of myself as a good driver and i have hit a stupid man hole that i didnt see. it caused me to have a shattered carbon fiber lip. i had my car dumped for 9 months( never posted the pictures) but i know how hard it is to drive on any kind of road. it takes a lot of mental beating. people are rediculous and will never understand because they dont have the BALLS to do it!

RIP heh.

You know that your rear license plate is a trailer plate in the Netherlands?

I think I might get a lawyer and sue the city...if they can't finish the paving job they shouldn't undertake it and leave it like that for traffic to drive over! Very dangerous to leave the manhole covers so high.

Sorry your Fit is all torn up. I hope you decide to rebuild it.

^It's very hard to sue the city and win, especially with road conditions. Unless they're really, really negligent.

This is very true, especially when it comes to a modified car. They can claim all day long he would have been fine if his car hadn't been modified.

Not exactly.

When there is construction, Its a company's jobsite. When they allow traffic thru, its their responsibility to make sure the road is passable.

Obviously I don't know the exact road, but I sure as hell would try for some compensation.
Shit, up here townships pay for wheel/ tire damage when its pothole related.

Yeah it might be that, or hell, could be that they know something like this will inevitably happen and they won't have the money to fix it when it does, so why bother?

Interesting. So he could go after the company. Makes sense, would have a better shot at that than the city. Down here, there's no way the city would pay for damaged wheels.

Ray I had missed this thread been so hectic here! I am really sorry and OMG can't believe that happened to your car. Makes me sick to see her like this when that car was one of the best Fits on this forum. Hope you get things worked out and let us know how things go.

Cat :x

Go for it.
Trick might lie with the fact determining they had prior knowledge.
Go for Gross Negligence.

What if the car hadn't been modded, just had broken struts? Would that be actionable? How would the company then say that it was the owner's fault?

Think Manhole Cover. Challenge might be driving manner/speed. Existing conditions road/vehicle. Mods? not good, but not the end - by no means. Prior knowledge.

Gotta think about this a bit...

As some know... they totaled her out. Gave my 10,500 for her. Although her damage wasnt bad, I didnt want it back.
I removed basically EVERYTHING from the car. The bigger stuff sold locally, whats left I have in my FS thread.

This is what she looked like the morning she got towed away. :-/
Ugly as sin. No, the wheels werent turned in this pic. Steering was perfectly straight.

As for my next car. I was looking in to Ap1s. I changed that due to the headache of the seats, steering wheel, and other crap getting stolen.
Im getting an 02-05 Mini Cooper S. Checking out an 04 tomorrow. Test drove an 05 today.

what color is that, Ray, it's so different. Where did you have it painted? From that photo, I can't tell it's even been damaged. But good luck with your Mini!
