my 2nd jazz - UK Helios yellow

Hi

I'm from London UK and I already have 2010 GE6 1.4 EX CVT but now that we have our own place, i need another car for work and i always had a soft spot for the GD sport so i got one.
Bought the GD jazz(2005 1.4 dsi sport manual) in March 2013 and was adamant to keep this standard the first day i bought it but the next day i already had a list of stuff i wanted to do to it lol.
So far no big mods but more enhancements. Will update as the transformation takes place.

First day i picked her up

Gave her a wash and debadged

Was going through engine cover thread and saw some good stuff in there so I thought I give it a go.
Please bare in mind i had never spray painted anything before lol.
Taped up the DSI logo and 2-3 coats of primer. 5-10 mins between each coat then left to dry for 40mins.

3-4 coats of plasti-kote high gloss spray paint. 10mins between coats and left to dry for 48 hours.

Here's the finished product

I then got a bit cocky and thought i paint the grills too.
Taking off the front bumper and grills off the bumper was bit scary and long process because i didnt want to break anything.

Break off clips to remove the H emblem and fishing line or dental floss for rear.

Will be getting red badges but did the H emblems black for now.

Painting wise the process wasn't too different to painting the engine cover. Make sure to wash and clean the grill thoroughly first before priming.
Optional - Heat gun to speed drying between coats

Left to dry in my airing cupboard for 3 days. i Would recommend leaving to dry for as long as possible but i needed the car lol.

Putting it all back together was quicker than i expected. Just make sure you remember where all the bolts and clips go.
Finished!

Turn out nice in my opinion and glad i did it.

Cheap mugen rep wind deflectors. Quality wasn't great but looked ok when on.

Got the rear and rear sides windows tinted. Did the rear wiper mod.

I went for light smoke and during the night its ok but in the day it does seem quite see-through so i may re-do them in dark smoke soon.

H4 6000k hi/lo HID
LED side lights and rear plate lights
Nokya yellow fog bulbs

Was a nice day yesterday so gave her a wash and wax then took some pics with my mates vivid blue GD.

My GD(his) and GE(hers)

Very nice, love that yellow. Too bad it's not available over here. That would've been my first choice.

Good looking Jazz. You are moving along right quickly on your mods and it's looking good.

12x6 number plates for front and rear
front eye tow hook
front and rear red badges from honda

Fog light surround wrapped in gloss black vinyl

Rear boot panel wrapped in gloss black vinyl

Rear lower bumper wrapped in black gloss vinyl

Now comes the prepping for 4D carbon fiber bonnet wrap!

couple close up shots

All done!

Overall i'm happy with it. The 4D carbon is lovely in the sun but it does look a bit matte when its not, so I may try use some liquid wax to see if it would give it more shine.

Thanks pal.
I think the GD hood is already quite light so that's why i went for the wrap. Real carbon hood here in uk costs around £550 which for me, just isn't worth it. Having said that, I do plan to get a real one later on when most of my main mods are done. But for now I would rather spend the money elsewhere i.e. alloys. Oh by the way, those are next!!

Quite a change from when you got it. Did you paint the logo in the front section of the door trim also?

No I think that came as stock but its the only one i seen like that. Usually it's just a ugly piece of plain black plastic.

Good job with the bumper and grilles, and love 'em black wheels.
Not a fan of the hood wrap either but hey it's your car.

Kudos from a fellow GD1 pilot. Cheers!

Got my custom 3" back box last week from Solidfabrications.co.uk.
The reason just got the back box is because i really didn't want anything too loud. Had loud exhausts on my first 2 cars and it was fun for a while but did my head in most of the time.

Ok let's get started

Alan making my 3" rolled tip

Now aligning to where and how i want it

Perfect!

Yes it look like a spoon N1 but bigger pipe. Its funny because I never really liked the N1 but once Alan showed a variety of tips, I opted for this one because it suited my car so much!

Boss weldings

All done!

Me and my mates ek jordan

I love the exhaust! Really finishes off the rear.
It's not loud at all and no droning at motorway speeds but still gives me that low deep tone when I give it some revs.
I will consider whether to get a custom B pipe from Alan later on but for now I'll enjoy this.
