Aluminum cage??

I apologize if this is a stupid question but i just had to ask... I see a bunch of companies making strut bars and such out of aluminum, so I was wondering what your opinions are about making a cage out of structural aluminum. It wouldn't be a full roll cage to support the weight of the car, just to make the car more rigid. I have A Spec front and rear strut bars and the rear strut bar I can fold in half without using much force at all, then i take a piece of structural aluminum of the same length and i can barely tweak it.

Opinions??

If you think I'm stupid... FLAME ON!

yeah, kinda like that, but i'm gonna have the struts tied together then i'm gonna take part of weapon-r's idea but instead of putting a bar from the floor to the strut, i'm gonna make a mount and put a bar from the floor to the rear "oh shit" handle, as i like to call them, on the other side of the car... its hard to explain... i'll post up pictures if i don't get lazy.

Use the C-pillar location, otherwise it's Mickey mouse.

Don't forget about the Progress sway bar that's available. It works well.

Rear strut bar

And since the old upper mount point was a bad idea... anyone want a camera mount??? I'm gonna use the pieces for camera mounts.

i really hope that nut on top of the bar isnt the one holding the shocks in place. looks like it has about 2 or 3 threads of bite on it.

no progress yet, i've been busy with work and i have been trying to figure out ways to make a bracket for the c pillar... and no thats not the nut holding the struts in place. that nut is just for the strut bar, i have the stock nut for the rear struts under the bar.

Very bad. Why not just modify the headliner so that you can weld the cage directly to the chassis behind the headliner mounting positions? Those screws are going to strip out and the bars are going to find themselves flying loose in the rear of your car, which poses a SERIOUS safety issue.

I actually customed it myself... I joined the rear strut bar and the C pillar bar with two more Cpillar bars from other cars (RSX) and it worked out wonderfully

a cross bar DIY'ed or bought would be the best solution for what your asking. But if you are willing to remove the rear seets judging from your sketches why not go for a cage?

just my 2 cents
