I've decided to go with the Progress springs for my Fit and am trying to plan out the install. I changed the suspension out twice on my '06 Rabbit and the fronts on that were a major PITA! It was a different set up than the Fit in where the strut sat in the knuckle. the axles had to come out of the hub to get enough clearance to get the strut out. Regardless, it sucked. the rear was similar to the Fit except it was IRS.

Anywho, I have an air compressor, impact and access to the VW spring compressor from work. I've had the rear springs out already to install the Progress RSB so I know thats easy.

Anything I need to know before tearing into this or any tools I need? I'd like to get the torque specs but am not ready to get the service manual yet. I have access to AllData Pro (online service manual for all car makes) and while there's not much on the Fit yet, there is the Civic. I would think the specs for the suspension components would be similar so I guess I could go by that.

I think I posted all that for nothing. I just found a DIY with the Skunk 2's, looks pretty easy!

 

yeh, it's not hard to do. and you dont really need an impact gun to
do the work.

 

Ken, did you tighten all the bolts/nuts to the proper torque? I hate to say but being that I work at a dealership, albeit in parts, I know that technicians don't tighten everything to the proper torque, just tight.

 

yah, i just tightened mine pretty tight, that's it. when i do more
delicate/sensitive parts i use a torque wrench but otherwise hand tight
is fine for me. im pretty familiar with my tools that i can do it by feel
and get it close enough.

ive yet to have a bolt come loose or break, cross thread, etc through
the years except for the cusco tower bar i installed on the Fit recently.
their torque rating is too low.

if you're anal, most definitely use your service manual and correct
torque's for each fastener.

i used one when i removed the stock springs from the front. for
safety reasons, i recommend you use one... and wear gloves
and safety glasses.

 

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead because the skunk2 spring install DIY link is dead....Does anyone have it saved on their hard-drive somewhere? I've been searching for it for an hour to no avail. I guess I can use tofuman's DIY as well.
