Recommended spring compressor
Recommended spring compressor
Has anyone used a spring compressor to install their own springs or do you feel it's easier to take them to the shop?
What spring compressor would you recommend? I'm trying to install my Progress springs and rear swaybar.
Thanks
Charles

i believe there's a DIY somewhere on here with pics up and they didn't need to use the tool for the springs.
to each their own. if i was forum savvy i'd throw the link up, but he covered the uninstall, the cutting/editing of the plastic part, and some tips.....
it was a good diy......

Just rent one out at AutoZone or something for safety purposes :/
But.. I have seen people just wrap the thing in a giant RUG and pop it open like that! Not that I recommend it LOL x]

+1 on the autozone one... its basically free... just have to make a deposit
I thought I didn't need one, but since I am the type to switch suspension springs it was worth getting a spring compressor. I just bought the ones from kragen that clamp down the spring coil. You will need it if your putting back your stock springs on the stock shocks. Plus its a good tool to have just in case for future use.

Any particular bran?
Thanks for the help.

The External Coil Spring Compressor works where an internal-type compressor won't. Unlike conventional compressors, the 3 shafts fit on the outside of the spring, so you can remove and install springs on virtually any vehicle. Makes installation and removal of front coil springs much easier. Uses your 15/16" socket.
The post is from tofuman! NHBP bro. Actually, the only real biatch, is when the axel falls out. Oops. But tje spring is not under tension like a ford or others. Just use your front door mat you pansies.j/k
Axel Needs to be your biggest worry. Read the sticky diy in the fit trix section. I layed my front shock/spring assembly flat on garage floor, stood one foot on spring, bent over, and took off nut. Didn't move two inches.
Back Needs no compressor, just step down on brake drum, spring comes right out.
Rent it from the zone if u want.
Also there is sticky diy on rsb
