Is there enough Compression on the OEM springs that require a Spring compressor? I don't have an impact tool, so I would like to avoid it if possible.

 

no there's not. they'll pop like an inch or two. well at least mine did and thats what ive read about other people's as well! but always be safe though! hope this helped!

 

Its not an air tool, it just holds the spring so it doesnt smack you in the face. Most discount auto parts stores will rent the tool to you, i recomend it, your face will thank you.

 

last time I used one, I had to use a impact wrench to tighten it...I will stop by auto zone tomorrow and see what they got

 

yah, i recommend you use a spring compressor when removing the
stock springs.

 

Its possible that some applications would need a impact to use the compressor, but not for the Fit a ratchet will work fine.

 

I didn't use a spring compressor but I zipped it off with an impact gun. They did pop open a small amount but enough to make it umcomfortable when turning a wrench on it.

 

You will have no problems with just using a ratchet and crankin the nut off. the spring has hardly no compression so it will be fine. I used my air gun only on the linkages and all the suspension stuff on the car and not for putting the strut together or pulling it apart.
