Endlink noise

hey everyone. i just installed my skunk2 pro-c's this past saturday and i'm thoroughly enjoying my investment! all that you read is true, there's not a slight exaggeration in the pure quality of this coilover.

anyway, to my problem. the passenger side endlink has been making noise every now and then (no noise coming from the driver side). not while i'm driving, rather when i'm backing out of or turning into a parking spot. i'm positive it's the endlinks making the noise, i only get the sound when the wheel is being turned and goes from lock to opposite lock.

everytime i get home i give the endlinks a nice Fit shaking tug; there's absolutely no play. just to be safe i've already removed both wheels and tightened them down some more, as well as the rest of the nuts & bolts holding the shocks in place - they're on there TIGHT. i'm still getting noise and i'm running out of ideas on how to keep it from doing so.

i'm open to suggestions, thanks in advance!

my only guess is that the endlink is still moving just a tad when the steering wheel is turned - ezekielwhore mentioned this when i bought the pro-c's from him. i've already got a washer between the swaybar/endlink & shock/endlink, i'm going to try and toss one more washer in there and see if it helps at all.

still open to suggestions guys

Yeah, I also hear this click when going slow in parking, backing in, or doing stuff like that. Seems like its under a "LITTLE" stress during slow speeds. I got a set of DF lowering springs.

I have this happen in my mini also, that doesnt have power steering. (So I never turn with the wheel not moving at at all)

Also wondering what it could be.

endlink failures (rattles) are most pronounced going over uneven roads at
low speed, straight. to make sure it is the endlink, un link one side
and drive over predetermined road where your endlink rattled.

if it doesnt appear, then it's your endlink.

what id like to know is if someone with the T1R front sway bar is having this problem. i never figured it was the endlink on the sway bar. i just thought it was the knuckle on the ball joint flexing.

I HAD noise, now i dont know if this is your problem however this is what fixed mine. Because of the susp design, the whole shock rotates and moves with the wheel does. The noise was coming from the spring perch being loose and the spring moving a tad because of the rotation of the shock. I tighted up the preload and then made sure the spring perch was nice and tight. Now i dont have any noise

thanks for the suggestion kenchan. since i'll be adding another washer and removing the endlinke anyway, i'll do as you suggested.

i'm not getting any noise when the car is in motion or when i hit bumps, just when it's stationary and i'm turning the wheel. if i were to compare the noise to something, i would say it kinda sounds like the noise a ship makes? haha, i was just watching pirates of the caribbean yesterday. the black pearl was creaking and it reminded me of the sound coming from my Fit.

yah, i think i know wat sound you are talking about. it's like a
THUCK note, right?

it could be your bearing inside the top mount that is making that
noise. meaning, the 19mm nut (I think it was) just above the lower half
of the mount might be loose.

Fits have McPherson struts though and like Mike said the spring turns with your steering wheel unlike the double wishbone setup in your crx.

yah, its possible that there is too little preload on the spring.

so, try this in this order:

1. endlink check (the noisy sideunlinked)
2. endlink washer mod
3. add more preload on the spring, re-adjust height as necessary
4. remove strut from car, check torque on the 19mm (i think) nut on
the lower half of the top mount.

I reduced the tension on mine hoping it would get rid of 25mph and slower bounce.
It did help, but me riding on Kumhos is the problem. I have this sound also. Sometimes it drives me crazy.

The noise only happened to me after I let the spring get a little loose.
I have it on my driveside. Add a mark to the collars and count the amount of times you turn it. Thats how I keep things even on my car.

Before this noise I had a loud pop. It ended up being the swaybar hitting the axle.

yah, that's wat im thinking where the noise is coming from. the spring
is moving between the mounts when the steering is turned causing
that THUNK!

sounds like a slightly tricky balance between the right preload.
in that case, you might even want to consider adding some silicone
lube at both ends of the spring...that will at least help eliminate the
sudden movement in the spring which reverbrates into that noise.

this is just my guess, but i think that's wats happening.

now if i can analyze wats going on inside my kid's head... lol
