ETD Vs. Mounts

Ok...I know that mounts are obviously the better choice, but since I have nothing more than basic bolt-ons at this point, would mounts even be worth it?

I've heard a lot of great things about the ETD's on the market and I think that's what I want to do. Only thing is, I have a Tanabe Front Strut bar and I'm not sure if the Ingall's one will fit with the Strut bar in place.

Also, I've heard that the ETD's can actually cause your OEM mounts to prematurely fail? Is this true? I guess it makes sense since the energy has to go somewhere.

Or how 'bout mounts + ETD? Overkill?

Ingalls will work because it does not interfere with where the tower bar bolts onto. Spoon ETD occupies that area so it will be in the way, but you might be able to get away with it by using longer bolts if your strut bar just bolts from the top. If you are looking for ETD with your strut bar, consider Ingalls first. look at the pictures of it installed to see if it actually interferes with your bar.

Both or neither. When the torque damper is reducing the longitudinal movement from one side of the engine the movement is exaggerated on the opposite side, and that's what tears mounts.

Motor mounts by themselves cause a lot of unrestrained vibration and the torque damper serves best to limit that (provided you properly preload its elastomer spring). My old ingalls worked great at this, it kept the car from giving me diarrhea and made the mirrors usable again.
