Question Question about front springs

I'm in a bit of a pickle here as I ended up stripping the top of the front driver side shock's hex socket while installing lowering springs.

You're supposed to put a 6mm hex key in the top to keep the shaft of the shock from spinning, then loosen the 3/4" nut holding down the spring - in my case, the nut is on so tight that I ended up with a very twisted hex key and a stripped/warped top of the shaft. Needless to say I had to cut that portion off with my jigsaw so I can at least put the front shocks back on with oem springs until I could figure out a way to do this w/o the hex key to hold the shaft (as I can't anymore since it was stripped/warped).

The question is: will an impact wrench with a deep socket loosen the nut holding the spring? If you use an impact wrench, you obviously cannot use the hex key to hold the spinning shaft anymore as the wrench socket would cover the whole top of the shaft - will the action of the impact wrench be enough to loosen the nut from the shaft, even if there's nothing holding the shaft from spinning? Can anyone confirm that they took off the nut holding the front spring down with just an impact wrench?

Thanks in advance, I've been ripping my hair out all day because of this.

Think 220 lb/ft tq will be enough for this?
