Progress sway bar hardware . . .

My advice: don't use it, even with the stock springs.

After only 10 days (~1200 miles, 90% highway), my rubber spring mount is already torn through. Here's the bottom of my passenger side lower spring mount:

And from the top:

Is it a huge problem? Not as it is right now . . . but given more time with the Progress supplied bolts, it's not hard to imagine a scenario where the spring would scrape through and cause problems. The good news is that replacement rubber mounts aren't expensive, and I'm still loving the sway bar itself.

Oh, and here's what the replacement hardware looks like:

Springs seat much cleaner . . . for reference, here's what they look like sitting in/on the Progress hardware:

What size bolts does the sway bar need?

I bought mine used and it didn't come with hardware and no one seems to be able to help me with it.

The holes on the bar were 1/2" but the holes on the lower spring perch are smaller so I ended up buying 6 sets of incorrectly sized hardware

Any help would be greatly appreciated

When I was looking for it, a search came up with the answer pretty easily. User sl0wp0k3 had the answer in a thread discussing the old Panducky hardware kit.

6 button socket screws m10x1.5x30
6 m10 washers
6 m10x1.5 nylock nuts

Yeah I was just going to be looking for a thread like this tomorrow. I've had my swaybar laying around for over 6 months and I finally want to put it on lol. Thanks for the info, Daemione!

good info i bought my hardware from another member which he got from ace hardware. it would have been easier to just know what i needed to get it and stuff. but i ended up giving the member a few extra bucks on top of what he paid for getting me the stuff lmao

This is great info for a lot of other users that have coilovers and RSB

Yeah, I'm looking at coilover's in the near future for myself. And like I said, even on stock springs I'd highly recommend the alternative hardware.

Progress definitely were morons when they used that hardware. Did they even test out the swaybar????

this is what I need, right?:
Product Details | M10-1.5 x 30mm ISO 7380 A2 18-8 S/S Button Socket Cap Screw | Fastenal

$11 shipped. Ugh. I need to return the hex-type ones I bought KNOWING they wouldn't work. I already have the washers and nuts. Hm. Guess it's worth it

Nevermind I bought the steel ones. Saves me a few bucks. Not worried about it rusting. I won't be taking this off.

uh..... guys you should just weld the bar on and forget about that hardware crap. that is what i did and i hear no noises and my springs have set properly with no interference from bolts.

That'd be fine if I was 100% sure I'll never want to return the car to stock to sell it. I also like to keep my options open when it comes to suspension upgrades . . . e.g. when I get coilovers in the near future, I may not want the bar on there at all - depends on what the balance is like.

you'll still want the bar. I want it on and I have coilovers. Just waiting on bolts in the mail. I want the t1r front sway and underbrace as well. The stiffer the better.

weld??

isnt it sprung steel? as in the rear control arm? i mean welding sprung steel will kill the temper and your sway bar will become brittle and likely break
