so no one has made brakes directly for the fit? i've read through the 4 pages, and apparently rsx base pads work in the front. i will be getting the sport version (coming in from japan as we speak) so i don't know if it has rear discs or just drums, but i assume drums.

what's everyone running in the rear that didn't do a rear disc conversion?

 

The fit's power and weight did not need a rear disc set up. I have track day (and I mean high speed suicidal) and solo1 the fit only with the Hawks HPS or HPF (I forgot) (the mildest of all Hawk pads) and not once I 've been out of braking power, I mean not once even faded a little. I am preety sure that there will be (and are) rear disk set ups for the Fit, but as killer as they look, they are overkill for the Fit, and they are not cheap, so IF YOU'RE GOING THE FORCED INDUCTION WAY, then first try more agresive brake pads (as the factory ones DO SUCK ), and only if you feel that you reach the limit of braking power, then consider rear discs.

Use the money on other power gaining stuff

well i don't really know how drums work.
i'm coming from a 94 civic with abs and rear discs. yes a civic with abs (came optional from the factory)
are you guys just replacing the front pads/rotors and not doing anything to the rear drums? or are you supposed to do anything to the rear drums? how does it work? what are you supposed to replace in the rear?

 

I can't speak for everyone but it seems most people are leaving the rear drums alone, stock shoes and all. The front brakes do most of the work, so a swap to hipo pads in front goes a long way. I agree that a rear disc swap is more trouble and money than it's worth. After all, the Spoon Honda Fit, one of the most heavily modded racing Fits in the country, kept the rear drums. Drums are lighter than discs, after all. If you're racing your Fit and the rules allow it, you could switch to braided stainless brake lines all around, which would probably improve pedal feel somewhat.

 

meh. the stainless brake lines imho are moreso a placebo. since that's what it wants you to feel, that's probably what you'll feel. idk. whatever makes you feel better.

also... how long does it take for the drums to wear out til they need to be replaced?

 

i'm picking up the hawk brake pads pretty soon since i have a buddy that gets a ridiculous discount at baxter so ill let everyone know how they work out

okay just to clarify to everyone who was skeptical like me.......

upon further research, the rear drums do not need to be upgraded or even touched when upgrading the front pads / rotors. taking a look at lots of serious fits..... even the spoon fit... they kept the stock rear drums but have good pads/rotors upfront.

 

One thing I noticed about the Spoon Fit is that they seem to use some type of finned rear brake drum, which might enhance brake cooling. Dunno where they got those, but I'd like to find a set. Are they JDM? Look closely at the rear wheel on this pic...

I put the SS brake lines as they were required in order to SOLO 1 the car at the track (safety)

No, I believe it is the rsx base (not S) front pads that fit the FIT front calipers.

Where did you see that RSX-S pads would fit?

Yes, the RSX pads are a direct match for the Fit. I installed them myself and it was a no-brainer. They've been working great, no excessive noise or dust. There is a required break-in for these pads, but it's easy and explained on the package.

 

Akebono and EBC makes pads for the Fit. I have quite a bit of brake dust so I am going to put on some Akebono's since on my Saab they have NO brake dust.

 

For front pads the Hawk HB-418 should be direct fit in HPS. RSX 2-003-2006.
For drums HK (hoo kares); rear brakes merely are along for the ride. Stocks will do fine, except for the labor efforts. We're talking about hipo brakes here.

Disc brake conversion from A&J Racing do offer better brake control and are certainly easier to service than drum brakes. I find I get a little closer to corners before braking than with the rear drums so they were worth putting on my Fit.
Besides, concerning how driving is in Europe and Asia where everyone thinks they are F1 pilots, there is the reason rear discs are on Fits there.
Pity they are so much trouble to convert to ours.

 

Has anyone run the pads that A&J offer or run the Spoon pads that are on the Bulletproof website, or should I just go with Hawk? I autocross about twice a month now.
