Raising the Fit
Don't think the 30ish lbs it weighs would lower the rear significantly enough to make it scrape everywhere you go. Maybe you should try using an angle when exiting the driveway.
Can't really know without seeing pictures of whatever you're talking about.
different generations of fit. but i see the hitch is really huge and i could see how it could scrape along a driveway if you DONT angle into. do you need to have it on all of the time? use one or the other lol
Looks lowered, but hard to tell from that angle. Just take a side shot of your car by it's self, a comparison shot isn't necessary.
This is what a GE with stock springs looks like ride height wise. If yours is lower than this, then you have aftermarket springs.

Good photo for comparison, but the OP already said that his springs are painted in colors other than black, and he bought the Fit used. No question, after-market lowering springs are on the car. My Fit is stock, and I don't like how low the front end is, so I can see why he has problems in driving over rough roads. I scrape just driving into grocery-store shopping centers in any city. Negotiating a lowered Fit in country areas in Canada could definitely be a problem. The point is, for other than the style addicts, a stock Fit is very low to begin with. If you intentionally lower it some more, you will wind up grinding away your oil pan like some other forums members have already done.
The owners of un-modified (for suspension) Fits should NOT have to drive diagonally into city business driveways to avoid scraping away the front lip. I HATE that sound! But I did buy my Fit knowing how low it was, so I don't complain too much when it scrapes. I just write posts like this to warn others about what they should expect in their new Fits. And drive diagonally where I can.

It does look lowered in that pic, not much, maybe an 1-1.5"? I'd be pissed if a dealership sold me a car with aftermarket springs and didn't tell me. I would let them know it for sure too.
I scrape my bumper a little bit like 2-3 times a day ON A BASE and i'm only on lowering springs, IDK how you C/O guys do it dumped on the ground. I angle too, but sometimes it's unavoidable. There's some steep parking lot entrances up here though for drainage that I frequent on my daily routine.
I'd probably be hitting that tow hitch/bike rack thingie on everything myself, it looks like it hangs pretty low and protrudes pretty far out there. I'm not suprised at all.
All brands of trailer hitches for the GE are made the same way, and fasten to the frame edges just insde the inner edges of the rear wheelwells. A heavy square tube crossbar goes across the entire width of the rear frame, and the draw bar sticks out in the middle of the cross bar. On lowered Fits, a trailer hitch is going to hit the ground a lot unless you only encounter shallow pitch driveways and flat streets. Air shocks are a must if you carry any weight on the hitch. Lowered Fits are going to have dragging problems all the time without the ability to occasionally adjust rear height to eliminate sagging due to weight changes in the rear.

I guess I need to catch up here - thanx for all the input so far.
The springs looked black and I'm guessing they are standard.
I thought the old and new model had the same clearance - am I wrong? I did notice at the tire shop a large clearance difference between mine and the one it was parked next to and so did the guy at the shop.
I bought it as a private sale, not dealership, however the guy I bought it from is not the type to lower cars. His business is to buy cars from the insurance company and repair them. This car was brand new and when being delivered the driver backing it off the truck hit the clutch instead of the brake and the car flew down the ramp and the passenger side rear panel and door got crushed hitting the safety bar on the lift truck. The dealer and the insurance company wrote it off and the previous owner purchased it and repaired the body damage then decided to keep the car for himself. 2 years later, his wife not able to drive it because it was stick well, he sold it (to me) and replaced it with another car. This guy is from somewhere near Russia originally (I forget), and is focused on trying to make a living, not racing a Honda Fit :-) I bought it really cheap because of it's history. Most people run away from such cars. I'm glad I went for it because, after an inspection there was nothing wrong with it (yes I know there could be unseen issues but I've been very tough on the car and so far none have arisen) and shortly afterwards I got rear ended (better something already repaired than to think of your brand new car being repaired and now worth far less). Unless it was lowered before he bought it i.e. for the dealer, it wasn't lowered. However it IS very low (by a couple of inches) compared to other Fits. I will continue to compare it and hopefully get better pics.
Without crazy costs, can it be easily (cheaply) raised a couple of inches and stiffened up? Nothing monster truck like, just say 2" and much stiffer? As there is no actual lift kit available, what would you use? And would the drive be that horrible? I drove an Xterra before and it was tall and unstable in corners but it never bothered me but then it was made that way.
Thanx
