Caliper bolt problems?

Hi, I was wondering if anybody that done their own brakes came across a problem after installing brakes. I've cahnged my brake pads twice on my car since owning. The last time I changed my brake pads was last year. Just last Monday morning when I was driving from Miami to Atlanta, the top caliper bolt came off, causing the caliper to rub against my wheel. It kind of made it sort of undriveable? Anybody ever came acroos this problem?

Its probably related to when you last did the brakes.
The bolt could have been not tight enough and over time it backed out.

Ok that sounds quite dangerous really, if in doubt invest in a torque wrench and get yourself a electronic service manual to avoid a repeat

It sure sounds like improper bolt installation (not tight enough). I have never seen that happen on any vehicle but it sure could if the bolts were not tightened properly.

I'd recommend using Loctite 242 Blue on the caliper related bolts.

This actually happened to me a year ago. Was coming down the grapevine in CA and had a horrible sound as the caliper bolt came out.

Never found a reason for it. Had never touched the brakes.

Replaced it with a Honda OEM bolt eventually. Most CERTAINLY used locktite on re install.

Mine was really tightened too. Yes, I will put some loctite on it. Thanks everybody.
