Dual Rate Progressive Springs - Japanese Speaker Needed
While I partially agree with you, he has experience with these springs, whereas, you don't sound as if you had experience with yours. Obviously, the applications are going to be different, but still, I don't see anything wrong with looking into it. I've had experience with different products from both the US and Japan, some rare, some easily found on the shelf, and I can say go with what you know if it works for you.
The Progress springs lower the Fit 1.5" in the front and 1.3" in the rear, they are progressive, and they are readily available. The Progress Group, Inc. Online Store
The reason Fit springs have to be 'progressive' is because if you want to lower the car in the rear without the spring falling out of the bucket when you put it on a lift you have to add those "dead coils". Essentially those coils are just going to sit on themselves once they are under load (same free length as stock, yet lowers the car under load). The whole 'progressive' spring rate is kind of blown out of the water in my opinion; it's not magic, it's making sure the spring you get doesn't have a rate that's going to ruin your strut/shock in X,XXX miles.

Teenage days! $800 fiberglass flared mugen body kit for my CRX immediately comes to my mind! It was removed out of the mold before it set, so it did not fit right. When I finally managed to put bumpers on, they started cracking and fracturing from rock chips.
$600 full cat back system for my GSR comes close second. It drowned me with noise at FWY speeds. It was not so loud as much as it was annoying frequency.
With these springs however, I have experience. My own experience and not just somebody's word. They were offered to me for $180 by Modacar instead of $300 reputable springs. I took a risk and it payed off . I asked what makes them better and made them get very technical. Like you said, it is not a brainer. Is there any other spring with two rates beside using two component set up? I am not aware of it. Sometimes you just have to go for it to gain experience with the product.
With that said, Progress stuff is very high on my short list of quality product. Their prices are even better and yes many "reputable" brands charge twice as much for inferior product!
I would just like to get springs I can live with daily and get rid of annoying side effects all aftermarket and OEM springs come with. I am not a kid that can live with stiff ride for cool looks and occasional blast. Been there-done that.
Maybe nothing comes out of it at the end, but if jbrisson or chikubi manage to facilitate purchase it will make many people take what they have in their rides out when they get an opportunity to get a ride or drive one of our Fit's. I will be more than glad to let people take my Fit for a drive.

So far, I agree with the members who want to stiffen the springs a little with the least amount of drop possible, and Ciburri's dual rate springs sound like normal ride would be comfortable until hard cornering brings the higher reserve spring rate into play. Thanks in advance-------

You can order the springs from Australia. From my conversion, the price is about $230 and freight is about $120.

The names of those springs in the DR-Proceed line are the S, SS, and R. S offers the smallest drop and the two styles thereafter offer a bigger drop. On average the S is a 20mm drop, slightly less then 1". The SS is a 40mm drop and the R is a 60mm drop.
They dont offer the S for the GD3 (1.5L Vtec). They only offer the SS and R.

Drop: 40mm/F, 35mm/R
Spring Rate: Front: 1.8k/mm-3.2k/mm Rear: 3.3k/mm-5.8k/mm
DR-Proceed R:
Drop: 55mm/F, 50mm/R
Spring Rate: Front: 2.0k/mm-4.0k/mm Rear: 3.2k/mm-6.2k/mm

If this vendor does not pan out I will look into going with H&R racing springs with tender coils added. That would mean two springs per corner to duplicate Kg/mm. At least you can pick and choose stifness of the springs. Each spring is $50-60 so roughly $400-440 to get it done. I am not looking forward spending that much money though.
Stay put for updates. There is no point in everybody risking money. I am at the point where I am willing to risk it myself. I will keep posting any developments on the subject. If they do not reply to my e-mail, I will start calling them.

From looking at the kg/mm site, there also appears that they have a new line of springs out called U.D.S. I'm not sure if they're progressive or dual rate but they're cheaper than the DR springs. Wish I could read Kanji.

Rather than accept too much of a drop based upon which of these springs are available for the Fit, I will just shut up and be patient until Ivan (ciburri) or Dave Brown leads the way.

Sounds like Kg/mm severed ties with just about every distributor on the planet! What the hell are they up to?! They definately did not close shop if they are coming up with new spring lines. The only way to get these is to fly to Japan, rent a Fit and drive through their shop window!

Are the springs referenced in your post dual rate springs? If so, I could live with a 1" to 1 1/2" drop. If these springs are of interest to you as the originator of this thread, and you decide to order, I will join you in that order if it would in any way reduce the overall cost. Otherwise, I will wait until you have the springs that you want on your Fit, take you up on your offer of a test drive of your car, and then order my own springs if I like the effect. Thanks for the info, and I hope that your insurance company gets the damage taken care of quickly on your Fit.
