I don't need to use my car as a banner that tells people how crazy I am..... It is pretty apparent to about everyone that I am whether I'm in my car or not.... The sad thing about cars is that they depreciate in value so it is crazy to put a lot of money into them.... I have to be able to justify the money I spend on my cars by either improving the performance or function of them.... Most people think that a man that is almost 60 years old putting a super charger on his car is just down right insane..... Fortunately my wife is very understanding.

i love the stretch tire and wide wheel look depending on the car. i want to do this to the fit but and stupid when it comes to wheels and tires, all the tire sizes and rim width and offset, im clueless. i need a crash course or something on tires and wheels so i can do this.

you're exactly right, couldn't agree with you more, as long as you can justify it in your mind; to each their own. PS sounds like you're one of the lucky ones if your wife doesn't mind you buying a supercharger. lol.

I've been looking around for some interesting setups but all i see is the expected 15-16" rims with +30-+40 offsets....anybody have any examples of what they have that isn't just a typical setup that took some work to make fit?

you can run spacers with any wheel, the spacer typically fits over your hub, depending on the size you may need extended studs, but i would think anything less than 5mm won't need extended studs, but usually when you buy spacers they will either come with extended ones or tell you you need to get them.

a spacer just pushes the face of the rim outward, optically widening the stance of the car and IMO filling the wheel well and making it look head and shoulders better.

If you can afford it you can get wheels to the exact specs you want from manufacturers like Work, Volk/ Rays, CCW...etc that would eliminate the need for a spacer and the wheels would fit perfect.

but in a typical situation where there is a tighter budget involved spacers can make a typically generic and over used and over seen set of wheels something different than everyone else has when you pay close attention to fitment, spend the extra time researching and test fitting and measuring, you will thank yourself for it.

The tires you use can also set off or destroy the look of a rim, so research research research, THEN make your decision.

7mm spacer with +35 offset is that what you're saying? How wide a wheel 7in or 6.5in? Any pics? also what suspension?

Also anyone got any pics of 8in wheels on a fit?

I have to admit to really liking the look that is obtained by flush mounted wheel well filling wheel and tire combinations and a dropped suspension..... When it interferes with the function of a car that is going to be used for more than cruising and ends up slowing down a car that is already said to be slow by an increase in rotating mass and increased rolling resistance from the wider tires, not to mention the affects that the added unsprung weight has on the steering, suspension and braking and additional wear on these components..... When the first Fits came out on the Japanese market they were equipped with 13" wheels and the famous Skunk 2 race car that was blowing away all sorts of expensive Euro cars was fitted with 205-50-15s when it was competing on the track.... There is a reason that there are so many sets of heavy large diameter wheels with overly wide rims popping up for sale all of the time by individuals and that may well be due to the sellers developing an appreciation of function over form.

I'm still somewhat new to this but have seen plenty of cars at the occasional show or on the street that sit hellaflush. I'm considering it myself but would definitely like to see more pics of it. I know there's a black GD3 that was being worked on at the garage I frequent and it turned out pretty sick. What I'm most curious of is for those who daily drive their fit is there any major problems other than what any set of wheels and tires normally go through?

x7 means the width. so, 16x7, +35. i have 16x7 +40 with 185/55 on my GE. the front sits conservatively flush, and the rears i added a 15mm bolt-on spacer, so the rear sits at +25, effectively. reason i added the spacer is because with these cars the rear track isn't as wide as the fronts with the drivetrain and axles, so there's a bit more fender to be filled out back. there's a couple red fits on here that sport the 501's, but have massive camber in the rear. if you don't mind flip floppin ur rears every so often, it's legit. but for someone like me that drive 100+ miles a day, i try to stay a bit conservative.
hope this helped a bit.

I have to agree with the D1 comment. However those are racers on a closed circuit.

I would not recommend stretched tires on wide wheels. Only cause this is what can happen.

These are 17x8.5 with 205/40/17 with a few pot holes and a couple curbs later.

There is a good 1/4" of wheel sticking out on either side of the tire.

You should ask my buddy how safe it is.

He peeled 3 beads in a month on his BARELY stretched rsx. One of which put him in the ditch and rashed up his front lip.

You seem pretty sure-minded about it though. Hopefully it works out for you.
