Small changes in the diameter will not throw off your speedometer enough for you to worry. The offset will determine whether or not your wheels will rub. I'm running +42 offset and there is a little bit of a rubbing problem. Haven't lowered yet, still waiting on struts and a camber kit, I know I'm gonna need it!
Can't remember how much the RS7's weighed, but I think they are around or just below the average weight for a 17" wheel...don't take my word for it though, just speculating...I don't remember them being that heavy...

Mpg
If you size up to a 17 inch rim, you will end up going to a wider tire (marginally) to fit the wider rim. That will increase your rolling resistance even if the overall diameter stays the same. But, more importantly, the 17 in rim will probably be heavier than the stock rim. This has a big effect on MPG, breaking acceleration and turnning. Why? Because this weight has to be spun up, spun down any time the vehicle changes speed. It takes energy to spin up and spin down. To change direction (try turnning a spinning bicycle wheel while holding it across the axle), the whhel will fight you (gyroscopic precession). Go to this link for a better explantion

You can gain an increase in performance by just going to lighter wheels. It is not a matter of carrying around the weight, it is a matter of accelerating and decelerating the wheels mass, and that takes a lot of energy. So you can chose style over light weight, and you will be hurting your cars perfomance all around!

Keep in mind bigger wheels are heavier. Heavier means more power to make them turn.
I think what Sliver was talking about is the outside diameter, tire included. If the outside diameter is exactly the same with a bigger wheel, but lower profile tire, then everything stays the same.

DEEP DISH option for the Fit...
Anyone running wheels with a lip. It seems like you can got with a wider lip in the rear based on "eyeballing" the rear fender. Staggered setup possibly?
PICS would help tremendously
