Bridgestone Blizzak's on dry surface
Bridgestone Blizzak's on dry surface
My 2007 Honda Fit Sport 5spd Just got Blizzak snow/ice tires. With the tires costing $125.00 each I could not afford rims so I had them mounted on my stock wheels and bought the protection plan which includes free mounting and dismounting. Total cost was $630.00. This is my first time driving with dedicated snow tires so my experiences may be normal for all snow tires. Since there has been no snow yet here in eastern PA I can only report how these tires are handling on dry/wet surfaces. I live in a very rural area with winding roads and climbing hills. The feel of the car is noticeably different and I have had to adjust my driving habits to compensate for these tires. A little more effort is required to get these babies rolling as they almost feel stuck but less braking is needed to stop . The Blizzak's reaction to different road sufaces is similar to normal radial tires but much more pronounced. For instance my tires spun for a second when encountering standing water but then gripped and forcefully jerked the car forward. Now I understand why they only sell these tires in sets of 4. Traveling on the highway at 60MPH for about 10 miinutes, other than increased tire noise, they handled no different than my radials. While cornering, there is an increased pull toward the direction in which the car is leaning and of course, I get lower miles per gallon of gas. Hopefully I can report that these tires kept me and my Fit on the road and safe through the winter.
