Proper tire size for 15 x 6.5 40mm?

I need to order new rims and tires. I'm looking to get 15" x 6.5" Konig Heliums and Falken Azenis ZE-912's but I'm not quite sure what the optimal size would be. I know the stock 195/55/15 size works but is that the best choice? I wanted to go down to a 50-series for better performance but I'm wondering just how much that will throw off my speedometer.

Basically, what size should I get? I tend to value performance over economy but I'm not looking for ultimate performance, just a good compromise for road driving.

no rubbing issues.

when running the 50 series tire...it increased my wheel gap, it was definitely noticeable.

but even with 55 series tires, with springs, i just dont know how ANYone can rub. even with the lowest springs...maybe if they settled in a bit much.

edit: if your alone in the car i guess. but when i had a full load with my ls meshies...i did not rub a bit running both the 50 series tire at one point and 55 series

would it be possible if US fits have different specs on rear fenders from philippine released jazzes? im on stock suspension and used to have 15x7 40 offset with my tires and i rubbed which was why i swapped them up to 15x6.5 40 offset. but when i rode with 3 people onboard and passed a street hump, when my rear wheel passed, the car "bounced" and heard a rub noise.

im thinking pretty much it's the tires' shape. im using bridgestone potenza g3s

The speedometer, odometer, and other related equipment is designed to work with the overall diameter of the factory tire size. In the case of the 195/55R15's this is 23.4 inches.
To avoid throwing off the speedometer, stay within 2% of the factory overall diameter.

The 205/50R15's are 23.1 inches in diameter, which is 1.28% smaller than the factory setup (23.4). The only other 15 inch option is 215/50R15, which is 23.5 inches in diameter, or 0.43% larger than stock. If you're willing to roll your fenders a bit, these will fit.

so 205/50-15 basically wont give me any issues with the speedometer? because its within the 2%

So i was just wondering, Is the tire size 205/50-15 rare? Ive had my 15" buddy clubs sittin in the living room and now i got some cash to buy the tires and i went to a few local tire shops and they all told me they dont carry them or anything around that size and that they are rare and would have to special order them.... So anyways i was just wondering why these tires are so hard to get... theres a bunch of websites i could buy them from, i guess im just trying to get past shipping costs. Does anyone in PA know of any shops that carry a good stock of tires..?

Just order them from Tire Rack. They have a Delaware warehouse so you could go pick them up if you didn't want to pay the $40 shipping
