Punctures & warranty issues

Hi,

I have a slow leak in my passenger rear tire. I've not managed to find an obvious puncture and I've not yet been to a shop to get it checked out. I have a couple of questions to prepare for my next step

1. Presumable tires are not covered by warranty
2. Do I need to get all work done at the dealership?
3. In case the tire needs to be replaced should I replace the opposing tire as well after only 3600miles?

Thanks, Ben

Tires are typically not covered under warranty, you don't need to get the work done at a dealership however they may be the only ones who will have the same tire.

At 3600 miles just replace the one, and if its up front rotate to the back so the front tires are the same.

You get a limited warranty by the tire manufacturer. You should have received a panflit for it with the rest of your owners manual/quick start guide/service manual.

take it to a authorized tire dealer for the warranty.

In your purchase paperwork and owner manual you should have a document stating the tire manufacturer's warranty. That warranty covers all of your tires from that tire manufacturer and his certified dealer should cover a defect that occurred in your tire and should perform a free inspection.
If he finds you were the cause - skinned sidewall for example - he has the right to charge you with repair or replacement. If he finds the tire at fault then he (and the tire manufacturer) shouilder the repair.
Be real careful here and inspect the 'bad' tire for defects (witnessses help) and make sure the valve guts are screwred in proprerly first.
Most dealers farm out their tire repairs.
And no you don't need to replace the opposing tire on the other end of the axle.

A puncture wont be covered under warranty. Had that happen on my wife's Pilot in less than a week of being new, and it was unrepairable because it was partially on the sidewall, so we had to buy a new tire. What a shame. slow leaks usually tend to be punctures. Take it to a shop to be sure.

Take it to America's tire in your area. The repair will be free and if the tire is not repairable safely (RMA standards) they will make the effort to call the manufacturer for some possible goodwill credit.
