Need help on 17" off set

Hello, this is my first time on here.So please go easy on me.
I recently bought a Honda Fit with a 17" wheels not lower.
I notice that the tires are rubbing at the rear. And I done some research
on 17" wheels. And come to realizes that I need to get the right offset for the 17" to fit with out rubbing. I dont know much about fixing up car or any thing like that nature. But I do like to make it look good. So if any body here could share their knowledge. Thanks

Tell us your tire size and offset of your wheels. Usually a number like 55 or 38 on backside of one of spokes. If its not there measure the distance from the wheel hub face to a straight edge across the back side of the wheel.
If you are getting rubbing probably you'll need different tires or wheels.

i think he probably has the usual 40 offset.

if its rubbing in the rear, you need to either A) roll the rear fender, or B) cut that little flange off. you will know what im talking about if you just stick your fingers under the rear fender and feel it.

like the correct offset without rubbing is 45. with 205/40/r17 tires.

The wheels manufacture told me, they +40 offset. And you think you could take a picture of the flange you are tlaking.

Thanks

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what 'flange' you're talking about. Is it in the center of the fender? I'm assuming on the outside?

If you look up under the rear wheel well you see there's a small lip for the fender, also with a 40 offset your probably rubbing on the bracket that holds your rear bumper cover on. I took a grinder to the bracket and removed as much as i could with out loosing the screw on the end. Also added these spring lifter things from auto zone. they screw in between the rear springs, don't really lift the car but stop the rear suspension from travelling so far. I also rolled my fenders using a mallet and a jack. if you lift the rear of the car off the ground, you can remove the wheels and wedge the mallot between the fender and the drum then using a second jacket slowly jack up the rear wheel, more in a arc and slowly not to crack the paint. It works very nicely.... Good luck

Is the little bracket plastic? Because I went out and looked by that screw, and it looks like some plastic has broken off during rubbing.

heh well at first i took a mallet and a roller and just beat the shit out of that LIP(correction from flange)

and kinda rolled it, then i just got mad and took a grinder and just shaved it off. took a long time but i did it.

then i took sand paper and sanded down the back part of the rear bumper. that helped out a lot since im running 17x7.5 rims on my car heh

I just purchased some 17x7's with a +45 offset. Going to go with a 205/40/17, and plan on getting some lowering springs. Either Skunk2's, Tein S-tech's or Eibach Pro kit. Was told from a few different folks there should not be any rub. Hope so......

We've done 2 Fits here with that setup and they don't rub. One has a 1.5" drop but I think if he was dropped another inch he might.

That did you in possibly with 205/40x17 tires. The 17x7.5/45's are 2" outboard of the hub and 17x7/42's are 1.84" so the tire moved out 2 mm.
That puts you very close to, if not rubbing.

He did the drop himself and not here and I don't remember whose springs or tires he had. He came to us with the usual under sized offset problem. Those 205/40x17 Kumhos are good tires and have as good a chance as any others to pass.
