185/65/14 instead of 175/65/14 for snows?
185/65/14 instead of 175/65/14 for snows?
Ok, I did ask this in the general forum last summer at the time of 08 Fit purchase but with winter coming sooner rather then later, I want to make really sure of this before it gets time to put the snows on.
As you know 08 Base fit has tire size 175/65/14. I have some still good 185/65/14 snows (Michelin X-ICE) from a previous vehicle. Other then changing the accuracy of the odometer and speedometer by a few percentage points, is it perfectly safe to use these tires, meaning no wheel wall rubbing or other improper size issues?

The 185/65x14 tires will be fine UNLESS YOU CHANGE WHEELS from stock specs to a more radical specification on offset and rim width. They re almost the same diameter as the 195/55x15 tires (23.46 vs 23.44) standard on the Sport. If your speedo and odo were calibrated for 175/65x14 tires (22.92") then you could have a small error of 2% fast (read 60 at actual 61 mph) but I kind of doubt Honda did that. Probalty calibrated for 195/55x15 tire.
Nothing wrong with X-ices either.
