Question Durability of heavy vs light wheels

Are heavy cast iron wheels more durable (i.e. more resistant to cracking or bending) compared to the lighter aluminum/allow wheels? I bought a set of RTX Storm 17" wheels which are very heavy and seem to be made of solid iron. In hindsight, I probably should have bought the Kona Feather, which are much lighter and thus offer better acceleration, handling etc. (I was a nubie, and only concerned about the looks when I bought the RTX).

But would the RTX be more durable and stronger than the Konig Feather (i.e. if it hits a curb, or goes on potholes etc.)?
