What are your plans? Is it for handling, racing, or just for looks?

Springs will give you anywhere from a 1.3"-2" drop offering the best comfort.

Coilovers will give you up to a 3" drop with the best handling but a harsher ride.

the car is a dd, so it would be for looks while retaining comfort

Go with springs for the best comfort and drivability. You can also upgrade to better struts that will help give better dampening. But I would start with springs first.
