Score 2!! I picked up a set of those yesterday, too, and nearly an identical situation. $100 got me the best 4 out of the 7 they had on hand, and ended up with only a tiny bit of curb rash on two of them. I then ran by Discount Tire and they popped the trash tires off for me for free! I'll weigh them tomorrow after I get a chance to rinse them off and maybe try a test fit. Wheelweights.net lists them at 13.6#, so hopefully that's close. Just have to get my hand on a junk tire to test with now.

The offset is 50mm, vs. 55mm for the Fit Sport wheels. So this widens the stock track by 5mm per side, which may help handling, and also satisfies the SCCA rules, which allow up to .25" additional offset.

NJD,
I would take a look at any/all of the Saturn S-series wheels, there are a couple other styles that LOOK like they might be light as well, but I didn't get a chance to play with any bare wheels in the salvage yard. Wheelweights.net only lists the weight of the sawtooth, but I'd be surprised if the others were a whole lot heavier. Physical dimensions ought to be identical, too.

Nice junkyard find on the Saturn wheels, both of you!

I can't believe I actually WANT to buy those 'Made in China' Sport Edition D4 wheels now.

The link below gives more OEM Saturn wheel weights, and out of those, the '94-'95 'sawtooth' wheels are the lightest:

Too bad they don't have weights on all the wheels, there are plenty of the other styles available in the 'yard. I suspect that the #6-9 wheels are probably decent, too.

I'm in the same boat looking at my options for H stock and was wondering why the factory option 16" wheels were not metioned? If I understand the rules correctly these wheels should be allowed. Any thoughts? Great find on the Saturn wheels i'll start looking for them if the 16" factory wheels are not allowed.

The factory option 16" wheels are not legal in stock classes because they are a dealer-installed option. If the car was shipped from the factory with those wheels, they'd be OK. But dealer-installed items are not legal. In addition, they are pretty heavy for 16" wheels.

Base Fit: use the stock 14" wheels, and any tires that will fit.

Fit Sport: use 15x6" wheels +55 offset or within 1/4" plus or minus offset.
Any tires including 205/50-15.

Correct- No 16" wheels allowed in H stock class.

Thanks for the feedback on the issue. The only thing I found in the rules that seems like it could be used to not allow the 16" wheels is the prohibition of "trunk kits".
On the other side of the equation I found

"Alternate parts listed in a factory parts manual are not authorized
unless their use is specifically referenced in the factory service
manual or in a service bulletin for the specific model."

I read this to mean that if the 16" wheels are mentioned in either a factory repair manual of service bulletin then they could be used. I would imagine that they are mentioned from the point of view of air pressure settings and torque settings. I am aware they are heavy but aftermarket the same size could be substituted.

Any thoughs on my interpretation and is it worth looking into? Thanks.

I believe the "trunk kit" reference in the rules is meant to include dealer-installed parts such as the 16" wheels. I didn't know about the wording you specified related to items referenced in the factory repair manual. Except that it's probably this rule that allows use of "crash bolts" on the Fit to get more negative camber. Dunno if this would include alternate wheels and will defer to others more family with rule history/interpretation to answer that. But I do have a factory repair manual at home and will check it to see if any other wheels are specified.

I look forward to what you may find in the factory manual.

Found something interesting when reviewing the paperwork from Sears after having them patch and plug a rear tire. They mention all of the factory tire sizes along with PSI,torque, description. The 205/45/16 gets listed. Not sure that it means anything but I suspect that the info comes from Honda. The downside is that they list the weight of the car at 3446lbs so maybe the info is not from Honda.

I suspect Sears has that info because they're likely to see a customer car come in with the dealer-supplied 16" wheels. And when know-nothing customer wants to know what size Sears tire to buy for his 16" wheel, the Sears guy knows what size to look up.
