GAUGING: Interest 2007-2011 Honda Fit rear drum to 11" disc conversion

GAUGING: Interest 2007-2011 Honda Fit rear drum to 11" disc conversion
I talked with the people at Brake Kits - Performance Pads, Rotors, Calipers & Brake Upgrades and if we can get 6 people to buy this conversion we can get it for $675.00 before shipping.Its a complete bolt on kit.
I will start.

I'm 100% interested, but I want verification it will work for our USDM 09+ GE8's.

It was easier on the 07-08 GD3's because for them it was bolted on, but on our GE8's it's welded or something to that nature, which is why no one yet (that we know of) has done a rear disc conversion on the USDM GE8.

I'd be interested. Does anyone know if there is anything else needed such as the BB, MC, or proportion valve? Only reason I ask is I had to make these changes to my EK when I did the rear swap.

Put me down on the list, that's a good enough discount for me to do the conversion. Also, can we get blanks as opposed to cross-drilled/slotted as pictured? I'd really only want OEM blank rotors/OEM pads...

I think I would be interested but can we get a full detailed list. I too thought that there was more to it for the newer GE's. Thanks!

I'm sure they'll say it will fit, but I highly doubt it.
There was a thread last week (or the week before), which had a post with the parts diagram for the 2007 GD3 & the 09+ GE8, and it clearly showed our GE8's have the welded rear hub (?, not sure what the part is called), in the assembly as opposed to the 07 GD3's.
The fact that fastbrakes grouped the GD3's & GE8's together when clearly the parts are not interchangeble in this case makes me think it will not work.

If the kit works, I'm 100% interested in buying it.

If you want 5 lugs, then why not do the CR-Z swap.

There was mention of this in several threads, here's a great post in this thread ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ml#post1037831

If you really want 5 lugs, I've read posts on here from oversea members who had their rotors redrilled to accept 5 lugs. Not sure how you feel about that, but that's another option.

Here's some threads referring to rear disc conversions on GE8's long read (and the info is buried since it's off topic to the thread) but great info in these threads:
---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...brake-kit.html
also ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...tml#post925805

and a post from above thread regarding GE rear discs, and I stand corrected I said hub, but it's our GE8 rear spindles that are welded which makes a rear disc swap much more work that the GD's were (ie. not a direct bolt-on).

As you can see on this pic, part 2 (spindle) comes separately as the newer ones seem to be welded to rear axle...

I think that if the holes fit it would'nt be that hard, i know that it was done on the spoon fit, so it can be done!!! But i tought it would be easier tough... tought i only had to buy new drums
As far as I know the front brakes on GD's & GE's are interchangeable but because of the GE8's rear welded spindle the rears are not.

Thanks man. Since I have a GD3 I'll just stick with this kit since it's easy, plus I just bought a set of Regas in 4x100. I'll be content with that...

T1R had a rear disc conversion kit for the GD3's, AJ-R used to sell them. There's numerous threads/posts on GD3 conversions it shouldn't be that hard. This kit that was posted in this thread looks like it should work for the GD's, so I don't think any one should have any problem. Not sure if anyone installed it yet but there was mention of this in several threads. Also there are other options for the GD conversion (ie. parts from other Honda's, etc). As for the USDM GE8's it's not that easy.

Thank you as well for your efforts. I'm far from a mechanic, but I've read some of these threads several times over so I'm just sharing what I've learned from others on this forum. There was talk of a rear disc conversion in several threads, and the most viable option I believe (short of having some one unweld and convert the rear to accept bolts), it to import a complete rear trailing arm assembly from a market which has rear discs. So it's possible, but not sure how much that would cost. There might be other options, but I don't know.
