I purchased a 2019 Honda fit Sport 6speed with only 60k miles two weeks ago. I absolutely love it. It was a one owner and garage kept. I'm dedicated to making this car last a long time.
The previous owner had installed an HPS Short Ram Air Intake on it. I learned about how to clean the cone filter and am stuck because their website is out of stock of their filter oil. The procedure to clean it is to rinse it with water, submerge in water and let air dry for up to 12 hours. The final step is to squeeze a bead of HPS filter oil around the top of the filter cartrige and let it absorb down until saturated (but not over saturdated).
My question is: Since HPS Filter Oil is out of stock, should I buy another HPS cone filter that comes pre-lubricated from HPS ($78 w/ shipping)? Or should I buy a different brand of cone filter and use that brand's proprietary filter oil/spray? Would it cause harm to my engine if I put a different brand's cone filter on the HPS pipe?
My fear is that a different filter would drastically change te air flow and trigger a messy situation with the mass airflow sensor.
