suspension header ring

I found a DIY on making the front suspension smoother.

http://www.hondafitjazz.com/ring.htm

Has anyone done anything like this? Does it negatively affect the handling?

I did that using an old mouse pad. I was dubious but, for the low low price of free, it seemed like a good idea.

It was instantly noticeable by both my wife and me. It isn't a magic-bullet, but it does help smooth out that high frequency, feel-every-pebble-in-the-road vibration to a more tolerable level. Now I don't feel like my teeth are swimming when I finish a long road trip.
