Unhappy Which induction Kit to buy

Hi peeps,

I have a 2005 1.4 DS-i and I am unsure which induction kit would be best to buy.....
Im running a Cat back Mugen twin loop exhaust system and would like some advise from you tuning Guru's on the makes listed below

Short type--

HKS super power flow.
Blitz SUS or Sonic
K&N 57i

Or do I go for a drop in filter

K&N
Spoon
Piper cross

I use to have a super power flow on my EG civic VTI which sounded awsome under load

Cheers

Phil

I'd suggest trying a low resistance drop-in filter with the stock intake before spending any big bucks. I'm running an aFE Pro-Dry, so far so good. Next up dollar-wise would be an SRI made from Autozone bits; they look decent and add noise, perhaps also improve gas mileage a tad.

If you absolutely can't stand the idea of not spending big money, chambered intakes seem to suit the L15 the best. T1R, Mishimoto, and a few others make nice, expensive, intakes that should drain your wallet sufficiently.

Personally i ordered a Fujita SRI..! Any intake is not going to make an ATX Fit super fast and the Fujita is a bargain on Ebay at Kuruma Motoring! Super fast shipping and top notch service so far! (also ordered my Progress Sway bar from them!)

The PRM products are making the most power, says JDM Chris and others.

After thinking back about the results I had from putting an after market intake and exhaust on my car I am under the impression that I actually lost some top end power.... I lost 6 MPH on the top end and it has taken a super charger to get it back.... I am considering putting the stock axle back exhaust back on to see what happens but I think the top end is governed and there will not be an improvement there.... The noise at highway speeds is loud enough that I have to almost max out the volume I want to listen to a CD but as ancient as I am I'd rather hear it than music but not all of the time.... I know from experience that cold air intakes work no better than short ram intakes and it is possible that neither do any better than stock except maybe for the SRI in the middle of the power band.... There was a definite improvement in fuel mileage over stock with the SRI on my car.

Question

Aside from nice growls,
do you feel any other gain (throttle response, consumption, or?)

And, btw, where did you get it a that price?!?!?!?!?

TIA,

Hi jazzista,
To be honist a little mid range from around 3000rpm to 4500. But nothing to shout about.. I still get 32mpg out urban driving, Ive not been any great distances to see what motorway MPG is like.

My emisions are still the same too, As I was little worried of it runing lean but the plugs are still a nice colour

Hope this answers your question

i run a fujita sri, and hks exhaust. I really dont run top end but as for quicker response off a stop light or a dead stop...i "feel" it does better....but what ever. I am on the highway alot and to overtake cars or produce trucks is a snap. plus the sound it cool...
