Exclamation GE8 Lowering Springs Precautionary

I just had recently bought 1.5" GD3 front and rear lowering springs for $70 on ebay. I want to know if these will actually fit on a GE8 sport.

13fit is using GD Dropzone springs on his GE, I never found out if they were captive on stock GE shocks though, by all accounts i've read the GE shocks are longer, but i'm not sure. Maybe he will chime in here. I've been curious about that for a while now.

yes they will work. im running the GD dropzone springs. the only thing is that the rear springs are much shorter so you have to be careful. the dropzone springs are shorter than those 1.5" springs so you should be fine.

Thanks for the comment. I've been iffy about installing these because they were a mistake i made while browsing around ebay... Having your paypal linked and pressing the buy it now button is a bad idea.

lol I know what you mean. just keep in mind that, the 1.5" drop is gonna be more like 2.0 - 2.5" drop using GD on GE springs...I doubt you will have the same problem as the dropzone springs but if you do, with the rear springs being much shorter, than you will need to hold the rear springs in place when lowering down your car.

^That's got to ride like crap? Stiffer springs and stock shocks way out of range? I don't know, some people's opinion of a decent ride is pretty skewed so that's always dicey asking that online.

OP if I were you i'd just resell those springs and get some made for the GE. Used ones from the classified here would be better than new wrong springs IMO, that's no offense to people with this setup, just my opinion. If you're going to do the work to install them you might as well do it right since you did admit it was a mistake purchasing them in the first place.

Pretty sure the question was "do they fit", and the answer is "yes they do". How do they ride? well in that case like you said that is a matter of peoples opinions and what shocks they are running. Not everyone can afford a full coilover setup.

True, but you don't need a full coilover setup? Just springs that fit correctly and are made to work with the shocks are a good place to start though. They go for like $50-$100 used on here, just saying.

Also just a warning to OP. I don't want to not say anything about that and then the guy installs them and wonders why the car rides like crap and his shocks are blown now.

Like I said, if you like it, good for you, people should be educated about both sides of the coin.

Okay, so it was a success... but now I've got a problem with the front left area of the car. I'm assuming that it must be the strut cause when I was installing them the front window whipper guard wasn't removed during the installation.

Ultimately, it sounds as though it's banging and shifting against the metal. Has anyone had this problem?

Yeah the plastic part where the window blades are attached to. I didn't get to take that out during the operation. Now it's making a ding and clunk on the driver side. Heading to autozone today to borrow a spanner to torque it down. Hoping this works.. If not then I need to haul out the left side to check the kuckles, sway bar and wheel... Which is gonna be a hassle!

I followed the instructions on here about removing all the wiper stuff before. Then I drove to my Dodge dealer and had them put in GE Swifts in less than an hour, Drove home re-assembled my wipers and no problems.

Cost? Less than $100 labour. All I had to do was watch.

I learned the hard way trying to do stuff on the cheap.

Ive had only ONE problem using the GD3 Dropzones on my GE8

The rear springs pop out everytime I raise the car up. The car has NEVER popped the rear springs when hitting a large bump or even taking a very hard corner that makes it feel like Im three wheeling.

It seems the only solution is to have some tubes connected on the upper spring mount that match that inner center, and make them approx 2-3 inches long to keep the spring centered and inplace.

The bottom spring holders do a good job, but I do advise you guys to check to make sure the spring has not turned itself out of it every oil change.

I check everytime I go under the car personally.

This is approx 5-10 miles after install. The sprigns settled a bit lower as they got more mileage.

It is normal for ANY spring to settle after a time

Here is a bad picture of the new Heliums on my now gone tires, they were 195/60/15s

Im currently on 195/60/15s and can post a better picture in the future.

Before..

After..

I've had some problems with the back making noise most of the time while taking road bumps and sharp turns. But for what ever reason people find fancy about lowered cars, riding one makes me want to just get out and let someone else drive it. (Stiff!)

Also, I hadn't mentioned that I did not cut the bump stops for the front struts and just left them on. Will this affect me somehow later?

Yes lowered = rough ride. I put up with it for the look.

With GE Swifts I did not need to cut bump stops.

I see you bought your car from Renton Honda. lol. nice. anyways yea you probably should have trimmed your bump stops. You might actually be hitting them being that much lower.

Anything lower then 1.6 drop on the fit with factory struts and shocks bottom out quiet easily with very little weight. Maybe the solution is to run GD struts and shocks that are matched suspension strokes. I personally run tein basis setup and even tho they come with shorter shocks and struts I had to raise mine up a tad to avoid slamming into my stops during heavy loads or costco runs.
