Manual Transmission Has a Governor
Manual Transmission Has a Governor
I have had my 2018 Fit Ex, manual transmission about 8 months, and I found out accidentally that it has a governor on it.
I went to pass and accidentally shifted to 2nd instead of 4th. I punched the gas and it quickly shot up to red line where it shut off. Before I bought this and then after, I have read most of the posts here, and I NEVER saw anything about a governor.
I don't mind, but it was just a surprise to me.

Depending on your speed you may have triggered some sort of failsafe designed to protect the engine.
Other than that, there is a redline fuel cutoff that's been in the Fit, for sure in the 2nd gen as I've triggered it a few times. The threshold to trigger this is just past the start of redline. This doesn't fully shut off the car, but does cut fuel until the RPM drops below that threshold. The engine basically stutters if you keep the gas pedal down in that RPM range.
