Is my new Fit missing a body part??
Is my new Fit missing a body part??
I need to ask what may be a dumb question of other U.S. Fit owners:
Here is the set up for the question- with your hood up, directly to the right of the battery and fuse boxes, on the inner lip of the driver's side fender, there is a long, narrow, black plastic cover or "splash shield" about 16" long that is held in place with 3 round, black plastic expansion plugs. This piece must be removed in order to reach the 8 mm bolt that adjusts the vertical aim of the headlight.
Here is the question: does YOUR Fit have this same part on the pasenger side as well? Mine does not, although there are mounting holes for the plug fasteners on the passenger side fender. My dealer printed out the parts drawing that shows the driver side shield, but the drawing does not show a corresponding part on the passenger side. This led the parts manager to say that this part is only required on one side, probably to conduct water away from the fuse boxes, and I will accept that explanation. But the absence of this part on the passenger side exposes a gap between the vertical inner fender and the top, allowing water to flow over the exposed headlight wires (which are insulated and sealed anyway). This bugs me just for the sake of appearance.
If any of you guys or ladies have a splach shield on BOTH sides, please let me know.
Thanks very much-
Dave
This has been reviewed many times. What you have is what you are supposed to have. Yes, it looks different.
There is nothing that has to be removed to adjust the headlights. You use a phillips-head (#2) screwdriver to adjust with. You do insert into the plastic on the driver's side.
