Summit Radial Trac II Tires?

Trying to make up my mind about first set of tires for my 2015 LX now that the OEM tires are wearing down. I was leaning toward General Altimax RT43s or maybe Yokohama Avid Ascends, but a local shop that I trust made a hard sell on Summit Radial Trac IIs that will save me $150. That's a lot of money, but money is only part of the equation here. I'm willing to pay a little more for a safer tire, and the Summits just don't have any professional reviews that give me the info on traction, etc. that I want. The shop owner says everybody that works there and all of there family members run the Summits. That's a pretty good recommendation, I suppose, but I can't help but be uneasy about them. Any experience with the brand? Search isn't turning up anything...

Continental tires are bit expensive but blv me the tires are very durable and reliable i have been using Continental tires in my towing truck which i use for 24 Hour Towing in New York and its performance is great and it provides long life.

I've never heard of them. If you really want to learn about tires, just "a guy I know used them and didn't have any problems" won't tell you much except they didn't have a blowout or tread delamination. Go to the tirerack website and look for comparison tests, you can see actual wet vs dry traction, fuel economy, handling characteristics, between several tires in whatever performance category you care to look at.

My Fit came with some terrible tires. The day after I put some good ones on I had to swerve nearly into a concrete wall to avoid an idiot on the freeway in the rain, and I definitely would have crashed with the old tires on. You don't have to be on a track to see the benefits of extra grip.

I'd tell you to get the same ones I got, but that's not worth any more than the Summit recommendation you already have. Seriously, go read the tests at tirerack.
