Warranty Question
Warranty Question
Hello!
My girlfriend and I are in the process of buying a used 2016 Fit LX from our local Honda dealership. It's about 3.5 years old and comes with a 7 year/160,000km powertrain warranty (i.e., another 3.5 years, it only has about 50,000km and it will hit 7 years before it hits 160,000km). The previous owner paid a portion of the 'Plus' warranty which we can extend to the full 7 years by paying the remainder of the cost (~$1200 CDN).
Plus includes warranties on: Climate, Security, Brakes, Electrical, Suspension, Steering, Fuel System.
The big question is whether it's worth $1200 to extend. What are the chances that we'll get to the 7 years without needing $1200 worth of warranty work?
Any insights from experienced owners would be appreciated. It's our first Fit!

I've had my 2015 for 4 going in 5 years and so far it's been very reliable. I've only done recalls and done a few things under warranty repairs while I was under the original warranty. Those were mostly quality control issues.I didn't do the extended warranty as I prefer to self insure. Rather than buying the extended warranty consider putting that money into a separate account to be there for future repairs.
Look up the threads on this very site about fuel injector replacement.
Unfortunately, it seems to be a reality with a lot of these Honda Fits.
I have a 2016 and so far no problem.
I would recommend looking up the threads on this topic on this very site, making a decision as to whether you want an extended warranty....or if maybe you want to back out of the deal entirely.
If you decide to invest into the extended warranty, make sure IT is covering the fuel injection system.
In nearly any other respect, I'd say an extended warranty is NOT worth it.
