Winter tire sizes

So I'm looking at some blizzaks for the Fit, but sizes are 195/60 or 185/55 - the first shows a +0.8" diameter and the second a -0.3" diameter. I've never owned a non-SUV/truck since being in the north, and wanted to get feedback on which size would be "best" for the Fit. Generally narrower is better for winter roads - didn't know if the slightly taller tire would be better for snow clearance in this case. In WA, with 2-3 trips across the passes to the east side of the state during the winter.

Any feedback is appreciated - thanks!

Either will work. Which is cheaper?

I run stock sport wheels in the summer and 14" Integra five spokes in the winter. The Fit suspension is on the stiff side so I feel like the taller sidewall is nice. Plus my teg winter rims are the same offset as the base Fit rims. I run Michelin X-Ice and I'm pretty satisfied. From what I've read, they aren't as sticky in the snow as the Blizzacks but the durability of the Michelins have been outstanding and have been on the same set every winter since 2013 and they still have plenty of tread left. Are there no 175/65R14s for the Blizzacks?

The 185s are cheaper by $8/tire - so no real "major" savings.

They do not make the blizzak in that size - just the x-ice, but they make a 184/65-14. Also great feedback on durability of the x-ice. That's where I'm going back and forth where I will only really be in heavier winter roads 2-3 times/year (maybe 4 total times) in the passes and light snow occasionally in the area - do I need the heavier duty performance from the blizzaks or go with better durability. 🤔

I would go narrower and cheaper. Both diameters will be fine.

I would absolutely go with the narrower size, they’ll cut thru snow down to the road surface a bit better, especially important in a light weight car.

Almost all of my cars get narrower winter tires if they’re available in an adequate size. I live in New England and winter weather is a possibility for nearly 6months of the year.

i personally like Nokian Hakkappellitas, or their budget brand “Nordman” tires. I had some studded Blizzaks on my Volvo and I was pretty unimpressed considering how hyped they are. My nokians were only 60$ish a tire - but bought them in the summer.

Cooper Evolution winter very good for the money . Even better with studs that are usually $16 more per tire . The siping goes close to base of the tire . There's a $50 rebate at COOPER site . Just had these installed on '13 FIT . We paid $68 each before studs . Studs were additional $18 per tire . Thus , $86 ( w/ studs) - $12.50 ( $50 rebate ) = $73.50 each before tax .
