I know that a bunch of old people had a heart attack and criticized the last time this topic came up, but please stay out of this if you are just going to complain about the topic. Anyway, have a long stretch of highway (mostly deserted) near lake Ontario near me and have pushed it a bit. I have the 5 sp auto (stock) and have easily topped 125 with plenty of pedal on a calm day. Not sure if wind was at back or crosswind, but didnt seem to matter. Funny thing is, it seemed to still have some torque with pedal movement. I wish I had my camcorder because Im sure some people with call me a liar, but I was impressed with responsiveness and overall comfort at that speed. Fastest Ive ever gone was a '94 v6 Probe GT which had a governer at 138. Actually this felt much more stable and a hard breaking held a perfectly straight line. Believe it or not, the Fit did very well and drag didnt seem to hold me back much. I would have pushed it more (as I still had a bit of throttle, less than half) but I wimped out because I like to keep my license. No video/pics because I will not be doing this again.

wow 125 is pretty awesome, did you have stock tires and rims (circumference on new combos may give slightly off readings on the speedo and odo)

it didnt seem to want to go past 180 for me even with WOT, perhaps it was the fact we're using winter formulated gas or the fact it was -4 or 5 celcius out (denser air is harder to push through)

what octane gas were you using btw ??

It is stock with the 15's so speedo should be dead on. I run 87 octane as is suggested. I didnt get out and toss grass, so Im not sure if/how much wind their was so it is possible to of had a tail wind. I was surprised as well to still have throttle left. It was 45-50 degress F, empty car (save for my 200lbs). I am even surprised to see how quick this car gets to 100. It has definately shown more accel/responsiveness with some breaking in (about 9000 miles). I would be more than willing to duplicate this with someone else's license. Took a long runway (Its about a 15 mile straightaway, but it didnt take nearly that long to get up to speed). If anyone has more guts than me, good luck and wait till you have a few miles on the car.

The car is pretty light, but its appropriate given the car's size and capacity. Besides, you wouldnt want a 3500 lb (1590 kilo) car with 109 peak HP. It would be an embarrassment to get up to speed. I agree with the wobble, it has substantial body roll with consecutive cornering but still seems to hold the line you need. The understeer is quite predictable and if you experience it, a touch on the brake pedal brings it well under control. Firming up the suspension would help with that issue and likely make it much more stable in a complex cornering situation as I feel many have done. I have a warranty to worry about, and I will not mod the car until such things have passed and I would become the sole mechanic. Just remember, test out the car in a fairly controlled environment, and you will learn that the (excessive) body roll and understeer are predictable and easily compensated for. I have done some pretty amazing accident avoidance/pushing the limits without difficulty (once I was acclimated with the car). I am by no means a professional, but I am a legend in my own mind....
