This forum seems to be dying (along with enthusiast forums in general). Where have all the cowboys gone?

I am sure just as many people still have questions about their Honda Fits. Where do they go? Reddit? Quora? Facebook?

Fewer people are interested in tuning cheap cars than in the 90s, some changed interests and some got better jobs and started tuning faster cars. Most people who look for a car forum want to have fun, not commute, and there aren't that many companies doing serious work on the Fit. Between canbus making engine swaps difficult, the small valves and cast exhaust collector, it would take a lot more work than in the old days to get a lot of power out of the car.

This place is great for the amount of knowledge that has been compiled over the years, but anyone who wants to tune up a Honda and generate some excitement is probably working on an Si or a Type R.

Thanks for the reply.

This forum hasn't been here since the 90's. Neither has the Fit. This forum gets way less traffic than it did just a year or two ago. Things are much the same at f-150 online, so I am not sure that it is a dying of the hot rodding crowd.

I see what you mean, but without that kind of enthusiast adding new content, you kind of hit a wall for information. Once the regular maintenance stuff has been covered well enough that a new owner can do a search and find a bunch of old threads, they might read content from a year or two or five ago and not bother posting "hey, I just did the repair you covered here," or "thanks, I didn't know how to reset my TPMS light until I found the forum."

There are probably other reasons too, and the general insanity of the world for the last year in particular must be a part of it. Still, I started looking at civicx.com after taking an Si for a test drive, and there's multiple pages of active threads in more than one section.

Do you have any thoughts for why the traffic here is dropping?

Those are some very good points.

I figured that forums may be just getting gobbled up by other forms of social media platforms, much like I have seen more and more that people get their news from twitter rather than actual news outlets. Same with classified ad sights like craiglist taking a serious hit from facebook. I don't do social media for the most part, so I wouldn't know for sure.

New member here, just joined today. I'm on other car forums and I think You Tube also has an impact on the car forums. A ton of people just do a search on YT for what they need or want to do to their cars.

F150 are going to be popular with a likely more conservative group which does not embrace different forms of social media as much. Also, the remaining contributors are likely older. Honda Fits are not a popular enthusiast platform for many enthusiasts beyond their 20s (consumerism says a fun economy car is not good enough i guess).

BTW, forums in general are falling out of use unfortunately. That’s across the board. Everyone is on facebook, which stinks as their groups are absolutely useless as far as places to share information or easily pull up a DIY how to from a few years back.

I read 2 Civic forums & a 8th gen Civic forum as well. The 8th gen has posts that are 2-3 years old & not too much activity. Civics from 2006 - 2011, so maybe that's why. I wonder if the fact that this is the last year of the Fit has anything to do with it? People just loosing interest & car sales are way down. I feel sad the Fit is gone. If I want to buy another car, probably go with a Civic.

All internet forums died 8+ years ago. After the FB boom took off nobody went back.

That has nothing to do with anything.

A lot of people probably come here or find this site when something breaks. Also are Fit sales down?

Considering the car is discontinued...

and yeah, there isn’t much left that needs to be posted. Aftermarket isn’t progressing any further and generally all the necessary info is already available in here

Exactly. And these were never highly modded cars like Civic's to start with. This platform was for average people using the cars day to day. And they were also built well so there isn't a ton of problems that need attention online. So there just isn't a ton of active users that want to make posts on Fit's every day. The same reason I say local "Fit meets" never happen. The people that mainly own these cars don't want to sit in a parking lot with kids going over cold air intake mods that they did last week.

I heard news reports that Honda was no longer going to offer the Fit in the U.S.A. and I think one other country (can't recall). But that will definitely affect the future of this site/forum.

There is daily discussion about GD and GE Fits on this forum. Both are discontinued years ago, globally. I don't see this forum dying for a long time.

Only here in the United States sadly. It is still very much a world car. Lots of info on here. I'm married now so all the modding has ceased, just running my car with the current mods and at some point need to actually wash it lol.

Yeah, this site just has a pretty strong US
/Canada bias.
