Sounds like you've got it all figured out.

Please re-read EVERY post I made. Never once did I say to not shop at Discount Tire. It makes no difference where you buy tires, but the tires you buy DO make a difference.

I'm glad you ended up with a globally sold tire instead of one made exclusively for any particular company.

Wow, I have had YK Avid Ascend on three of our 5 Fits for 70K miles on one of them and we love them. Also they are better than expected in snow. Oh yes, I have never bought a tire from Costco in my life and only ever bought one set of tires from Discount that went on my motorhome. It was a terrible experience with out of date tires, improper balancing, They also removed and discarded my steel valve stems and installed lower pressure rubber ones. I spent 5 hours there after having a scheduled arrival time 9AM. My 2 sets of YK's on two Fits came direct from and were installed at the Tire Rack's main warehouse and distribution center in South Bend, IN. So I have no idea who started story that these are a specialty tires only available from one store brand, but it is definitely false.

Chitown is using YK as short for Yokohoma YK740 GTX. That is the store exclusive tire.

The Yokohama Avid Ascend GT (like you had and Chitown now has) is the standard tire sold at every store and is not a store exclusive.

Just driving around my area for two days the tires ride and feel great. Glad to get rid of the garbage Firestones.

Good to hear! When we had those tires, we liked the "comfort."

Yoko YK740's

I wonder why Discount Tire couldn't get an exclusive tire just made for them from Yokohama. I like the Avid Ascend GT's I ended up getting. Just wondering about the YK740's.

I picked up a set of BFG advantage sport (195/55r15) from Costco about a year ago. $325 out the door and 0 issues. It did feel weird buying tires from Costco, im used to going with actual tire shops but the experience was fine!

Great price. I was quoted for a set of those tires for $566.00 dollars. I walked out and went to Discount Tire.
