My 2012 GE Sport has begun making a whirring/screeching noise from the time when I start it until it is fully warmed up. From inside the cabin this might only be noticeable if you listen for it, but it is very loud in the engine bay, and the noise increases a ton as RPMs rise. It seems to moderate for the most part once the cold engine light goes away.

Any ideas? The noise is clearly coming from the general area of the serpentine belt, but of course, that leaves a lot of components spinning in near proximity without being able to necessarily tell them apart.

It's been a few 12F days here, so unclear if it's weather related, or was there before but less noticeable. Car is driving fine, except for the huge valve rattle that gets way worse at low temps. That isn't a new thing though.

I'll try and grab a video, but it's been hard to recruit my wife as a motivated helper at these temperatures :P

 

Not the starter? Mine made a small screech this am in 25F.
