Fit dies in tragic accident...
My poor little car
I wasn't even in it <_<
Yeah... it's pretty much toast.
The front axle is broken, the driver's door won't shut, 4 of the airbags deployed, the gear shift moves freely without pushing in the release button...
It's laying in pieces up in Everette, WA.
I'm back in Cali.
I miss it already.
Only 34,400 miles on it when it died.
Pictures are on their way down (for the insurance company...) I'll post some when they get here.

Yeah... 34K.
I drove a little bit :-X
I went to WA for xmas to see some of my family, and ended up hanging out with some of the kids that went to school down here (Cali) that lived up there.
One of them borrowed my car while I was packing up my stuff to head home;they hit a patch of ice and slid into 2 parked cars.
They were only going 2 blocks to jump another car.
List of damage;
The front end is... well... beside the car
The front axle is more or less broken... The front left wheel popped and wobbles when you touch it. By wobbles I mean... in any direction you press, it goes.
The engine was pretty much sitting on the ground.
4 airbags deployed.
The driver's door won't close properly.
The gear shifter thingy moves freely without pressing the release button.
They key is stuck in the ignition because the car won't go into park.
Pieces of the front interior are falling off (like.... the cup holders under the temp. controls...)
The left side of the car is tore up pretty bad too.
I'm not a mechanic, but one of my friend's friends was... and he estimated about $23K in damage.
Eh.
My friend drove me down here (and we're lucky we made it... his car... and old camaro that doesn't shift properly, or... well... do much of anything properly...) so I could get back for work.
His mechanic friend took 2 rolls of film and mailed the pics down (should be here Tues/wed).
I'd say it'll be ok... but I miss it.
It's so lonely down here without my car to talk to

Both the kids in the car were fine (and I don't think either of them had on a seat belt, but never got a solid answer out of them...)
The other two cars were parked... so no one got hurt, and no tickets were issued.
Ice is not Fit Friendly

being as the car isn't even worth more then that new, i'm not sure how it could have that much damage to it on his guestimation!

Cost of parts + labor is what estimates are based on. When that is greater than the actual value of the car, that's when it's a total loss for insurance purposes.
I had a similar accident on ice, not as bad (axle still ok, only 2 airbags deployed), and that netted to 14k CAD, 12k USD in damages.

i understand cost of everything, but not something say almost double the value of the car, and i completely understand when it excedes the value of a car it's a total loss, that happen with my 89 hatch i used to have, what pissed me off was that the cost of repairs exceded by $100.00, which i told that dumbass adjuster i had a new set of tail lights which would have saved me.

Valuable lesson, When there is weather out ( rain, snow Ice) dont lend your car out. Only when its nice, people race the car and are not use to it.
Dude Im sorry, that sucks, same thing happened to my friend back in the day.
