Hello Everyone, I'm new to the FitFreak forum. I currently drive a 06 EVO IX GSR and I'm looking for a daily driver to get me to work. I'm really interested in the Honda Fit. I was wondering if there are any dealers in California that you can buy a fit from for the usual sticker price or lower? I have never bought a Honda, can you talk the price down? I know on my EVO, there was no talking down the price with any dealer.

Also, is there any reason not to buy the Fit sport over the base Fit?

This car will be strictly a daily commuter w/ no power mods and some suspension work. Springs/Shocks, Monkey bar, and F+R Strut bars at the very most.

If you can afford it I would go with the sport. I bought a base, and Im happy with it, but there are alot of features on the sport that the base doesnt have. Keyless entry, aux. input, fog lights, alloy wheels... are the ones that come to mind immediately. The base also comes without the body kit, and the fit looks a little goofy without it. If i could do it all over again I would go with the sport.

Also, if you REALLY want the fit and you want to pay MSRP, you will more than likely have to wait a looooooooong time. I waited four months for mine, but I got exactly what I asked for.

 

just pay the extra for the Sport. extra creature comforts rock for daily driving.

 

4 months would kill me. I spend about $500 on gas a month with the EVO.

My wallet is feeling mighty empty daily commuting with the EVO.

How much mark up are we talking? $1000 I can do, but forget anything over that!

 

i'm not sure wht is he situation in san fran (its CA so it might be better) , but finding fit in chicago area was not trivial task. tuesday exactly a week ago , it was choice between whooping 4 fits with only one of them manual. luck enough the white one we picked up was with black interior. on the downside the "package A" was already applied to the car and the choise was either pay MSRP or walk. dealer gave us somewhat good deal on our trade (from what i researched it seems like bit more then people actually get for it) so we took it. so glad we did

coming down from more powerfull car i thought i'm going to have problems but i personnaly satisfied with preformance - it is not a racer but plenty adequate for my kind of driving. i would recoment this car to anybody, but it is a personal choice after all, test drive one before you buy. as far as base/sport i went with sport, the extra features IMO worth it.

I want to test drive, but no dealers want to let me drive it. Honda dealers are dicks to me.

I think they don't let me test drive because i'm young. I pull up in the EVO and I don't dress like I have no money. They still won't let me test drive..

 

I remember one time I went in looking for a new s2000 two years ago. The dealer wouldn't show me the s2000, not only that he kept pointing me in the direction of the used car salesman. I was like WTF, said bye and drove out of that lot.

 

$500 in gas? you must commute really far or got a heavy foot.

In the Bay Area I don't think you'll find a good price for a Fit. I called dealers everyweek and they all charge mark up. MSRP+tax for a MT Sport would be like $17,100 OTD. Dealers will be charging like $18,600-$20,000. Good luck.

 

if your clutch foot can take it, i'd just keep that car and take it easy. no other car payment and insurance. i'm sure it'd be somewhate close to $500.

 

It's a combo of a lot of things inspiring me to buy a Daily driver. Maintenence being another, for example. Here is a list of upkeep i've done in a month.

$600 tires.
$60 mount tires
$60 alignment
$40 oil change (twice)
$500 gas

so that brings us up to...

$800 + $500 = $1300 just driving the car not including INSURANCE or CAR PAYMENT.

of course that won't be every month, but just to give you a example of how expensive it is to daily drive a EVO.

 

i'll trade you my fit for your evo and we keep our payments

hmmmm well definitely you won't go through tires every month unless you just really got into Tokyo Drift too much. lol You should get 15k miles on those tires minimum so that's more like every 6 months. you'll save at least $250 on gas for sure because you won't be running premium either.

oil changes on a Fit isn't cheap either. it's dino oil but the higher grade.

sorry if i sound like an @ss or something but buying a 2nd car isn't a way to save any $$$. now if the Evo is a toy, then do it for sure!

this is wierd. i'm not that old either but before i desided on fit i test drove everything else in class (yaris, versa, etc) and no one give me BS.
in this case try to bring a gf/parent/older buddy with you and make them think he/she is the one buying the car. or find some member in bay area willing to give you a test ride. i think it is crusial with this car to try before you buy so you won't be dissapointed. especialy since you have all those steep hills in SF (it's pretty flat here in chicago)

 

if u r willing to come down to so cal, jdmchris at this forum can get u a FIT with good deal! i think i'm the 6th or 7th person who buys FIT from him!!

btw, can u not bargain any price for EVO in nor cal? cos i have 3 friends bought 06 EVOs, and 1 MR at $31999+T&L, 1 MR at $32999+T&L, 1 SE at $31xxx OTD

Advan A048 stock tires on the EVO get eaten up usually within 10k miles. 160 treadwear. The most i've heard of anyone getting is like 14k MAX and this is to the wear bars.

I've gotten 13k on mine and they are nearly bald.

Daily Driving my EVO, also hinders what I will do to it. If I daily drive it, I will not do anything more then a Turboback exhaust, custom tune, drop in filter, and cams.

I imagined going more extreme then that with the EVO. Having a 2nd commuter car would enable me to do so.
