Sport A/T Transmission Kicking?
Hey just bought a Fit and I have noticed that the transmission kicks when it is changing gears. It's really bad in the mornings specially 1st to 2nd. I took it to a dealer and he told me something about a little engine, high moment of inertia and that I should drive it hard because hondas love high rpm. I think he was bs'ing me, plus it kicks even harder when it changes gears at lower rpm's.
Anyone else have the same problem?

burbank huh? very nice i live in glendale we should meet up one day. but yes i understand what u mean by kicking tranny in the morning from first to 2nd. i have that same kick feeling when i drive it in da morning. i just wait till the car warms up and keep the rpm's low and don't use the paddle shifters. once u get to third gear, it'll stop doing it. it's only a minor thing. maybe u seen me driving around!

not sure if it is the same but mine hesitates/kicks sortoff like you describe it when the engine is cold (which includes the mornings too obviously).
the solution - give it a minute to warm up. but then again it is freezing here in chicago...

well, i would describe it more like a slow to shift (we are talking when cold) rather then kick. but if you give it a lot of gas at that time you might be thinking of it as kicking. again i let it warm up a bit before i leave and take it a bit easier on the gas pedal until warmer air comes out of the vents (which is like .5-1 mile). then all is smooth.

Don't get me wrong it does also occur when it has fully reached operating temp., but just not as bad as when it's cold. This is my first brand new car and I guess I was looking forward for a SMOOTH transition between grears, it feels like if it were a car with 100,000 miles or something.
I don't drive the car until the cold temp. light goes off so...
Wierd Jimmy101, you don't feel any type of hesitation or kick when your Fit changes gears, it is an A/T Sport right?
By the way guys/gals this is when I drive i D and in S
KoolKevin, what color is yours?
Oh ya, you can also feel the tranny sort of let go of first gear when you come to stop, not very SMOOTH again.

In the cold, it's normal for an auto... My 04 Civic, 05 CR-V, my sister's
04 Civic and my parents 04 Accord all do the same thing and slow/kick
shift in the cold... It take 2 or 3 shift from 1 to 2 to get normal... My Fit
is manual so it don't do that but the clutch is slow release at low temp...
It is normal, don't worry... just go smouth till the 3rd shift from 1 to 2...

I have the same problem. I was thinking about disconnecting the battery and doing the idle learn to see if it would solve the problem. I think it is just how it is drived that makes it do that. The transmision learns and may compensate for how we drive. If I drive it "easy" for a few trips the "Kick" seems to go away.
Other than that, this thing shifts smooth as butter at or near redline.
