Automatic transmission no so smooth

I was wondering if this is normal for the fit. When ever I drive my Fit transition from 1st to 2nd gear is a bit jerky as if the tranny is slipping. This only happens to 1st to 2nd gear only. And the other part is when I'm stopped and I gas it a bit to 2000 rpm and let go the accelerator quickly the car jerks a little as if it was down shifting. Anyone have this problem?

Nope i dont ever really notice any jerkyness with the tranny...The only time it is a little jerky, is when im in S mode using the paddles and coming down from second to first while slowing. But there is a way around that, while in S mode when tha car staops it automatically puts you in first..

I think I know what he's talking about. It's perfectly normal. You're going from the motor dragging the car forward to the car dragging the motor. The lower the gear, the more pronounced it is. Try to have a smooth foot on the gas pedal! Bouncing around like that is unneeded stress on the powertrain.

I have had my A/T get confused a couple times.

(1) it won't lock up, it stays in slip mode or whatever it's called -- no total lockup
(2) paddles are disabled

Turning the vehicle off and back on solves the issue. Basically don't play with the shifter the first ~60 seconds after starting (ie, no coasting).

Thanks guys, I'll bring it into Honda just to see what they say. I tried pressing on the gas pedal slowly and it still jerks a little bit.

change to motul ATF (sp)- i was told it helps to smooth out the a/t gear changes far more then the stock fluid.

how many miles do u have on the car? i changed my AT fluid at 30k miles and it made a BIG difference in noises, jerks, and sometimes clinks. Now my car is super smooth again! I really think it's better then when i first got it!

I only have 6,700k on the car. Its wierd. My dads 97 Civic does the same thing but thats because he has 220,000k on his car and has changed his atf fluid when he had 120,000k. I will ask honda to change the fluid and I pray it will be smoother. I will check out the motul fluid but since my car is still under warranty Honda will have to take care of it. And I hope they do or I will just be a dick about it.

Doesn't our car need a very specific HONDA ONLY ATF fluid?? Which Motul fluid are you using? 75/90 from AJ-Racing?

No, no, no Andrew. I actually mentioned to you that I'm currently running AMSOIL ATF in the Fit right now, where as the Civic has seen nothing but fluids from Motul.

My sport AT ALWAYS shifts roughly when going from 1st to 2nd or going from 2nd to 1st. As someone pointed out, when you stop, it'll go into 1st automatically. And I usually just start out in 2nd, shifting from 1st to 2nd while I'm stopped (it'll let you do that). However, I do feel a small shudder when I shift it when stopped.

Actually, if I shift to 2nd while I'm stopped, and then don't shift it again, it'll stay in 2nd even when I stop. It also always downshifts from 3rd to 1st, never going to 2nd by itself. The only way for me to downshift to 2nd is to do it myself.

very normal thats how Honda setup these trannies to work, even my auto rsx's. from 3rd to 1st on deceleration (on a flat surface). i guess ppl find it a bit odd b/c you would think its supposed to go 3-2-1, not 3-1. Haha, i thought the same thing.
