Clang and Scraping Noises???

On the way to work just now, I applied my breaks before entering a curve at 25 mph. While in the curve, I heard a loud clank. It sounded almost exactly like I had run over a loose manhole cover. This exact same thing happened in the exact same location a couple of days ago. But today as I went a short distance further, I heard scraping (metal against metal) noises. I shut the car off, started up again, and everything was fine. I checked and there was definitely nothing in the road at that spot that would cause the clank. I've been driving through slush and snow but the roads were relatively clear today.

Should I be taking the car in to the dealer ASAP? Or, do you think I can monitor the situation and wait to see if it happens again?

the noise you described.. is it more like "griding sound".. ??? then i think yes.. you should have dealer check it out..

I hope this clanking sound of the tranny engaging is safe.. Sometimes I just go and I hear it, but when I remember about it, I ease it. Just seems wierd that it would make clanking noises.
