Seriously, the aveo is an ugly looking car. And you can buy one NEW for like under 10k. So basically all the money they saved from buying a higher quality car can go into modding their car. But I don't get who wants to set up this challenge? And if its just individuals that are going to get together and run their cars or if they want legitimate shops to put a car up to the challenge. This challenge kinda reminds me of SRT-4 owners who try to bag on every other car out there claiming their car is fast. Its just a POS neon with a turbo slapped in there. Ok i'm done with my rant... but if this challenge goes down I will be interested to see what the results are

ha funny. nothing wronf with people wanting to compete a bunch of econo boxes around a track. hell have Opak bring Spoon Sports car out....it meets all there requirements listed! stock motor just drop in air filter, and exhaust. suspension is just upgraded and not all crazy race car stuff. and has the roll cage im sure itll tear up the track...im jus' sayin.

and about the SRT-4....i dont like these things at all! but it is not just a neon with a turbo....it actually doesnt share any parts wiht a neon even though it looks like it. it was a total new re-designed car from ground up. decent car yes...but no where near as great as there owners claim.

^ Totally agree, which is why i waited for the FIT and didn't settle for an aveo.

ummmm.... Check your info again. The SRT-4 Neon is a Neon with upgraded engine trans and suspension. Revised front/rear bumpers hood and a wing.Interior had updated seats and a add on boost guage...In the end it is still a Neon... The upcoming Caliber SRT-4 will be based off the Dodge Caliber.....

this makes me laugh! i have an aveo that lives near me that the driver and his fat buddies always think he has to race me whenever i see him. and the funny thing is my fit always beats him, he might stand a chance if he kicked the added 500 pounds out of his back seats, and that club acts like the aveo is a freaking lambo or something,i just think it lame, and it seems that they keep changing the rules and the cars allowed so they might even stand a chance of winning. that justs makes me laugh.

Put it this way, theres a reason why Aveos are rent-a-cars. Theyre junk and easy/cheap to fix. All you need is a glue stick and paper. DONE!!

glue sticks and paper cost to much i was thing more like duck tape! or even just slap a sticker over the damage cause everyone knows the more stickers you have on your car the fast you car can go!

They do sound very insecure about themselves, dont they?? ha ha I would love to see their faces when they see the results. Cant believe they said the Fit is slow.
This means war.....

Damn, I'm always mistaking the orange aveo's as a fit till I take a second look. They look like neat little cars but they don't have as much character as the fit!! Honda FTW!

i dont have any problem with aveos, but i dont like em, and i dont like gm (previous experiences). im registering, cause i dont think it would really turn out fair if they made up the rules, set up the classes, built their cars, then went looking for challengers.

if they want to set something up, im donw with that, but i thikn all the different cars they're challenging need a representative.

on a side note, i'd love to see a stock competition.

maybe i'm just stupid and don't know much about racing, but if they're insisiting on stock everything why are they making exceptions for turbos?

Bah, forget it. If a forum arranges a test without outside consultation from a un-biased source, you can bet that the results will be skewed. Either way, if it was a stock car showdown and it was a technical track, you can bet that the Fit will win since it will out handle all of the other cars out there.

Well, seeing as their forum's last post was somewhere in August, it doesnt seem like they are coming right. Im trying to search for it somewhere, but one of our local car magazines has in fact done a comparison like this (cant remember if they included an Aveo) but when i find it ill scan it in for all to see. Oh, and of course the Jazz won in almost all aspects.

The set of cars with the best drivers will win, especially if it's all auto-xing.

On a second look, it seems this thread here was posted back in Feb. and is old, so I guess the challenge never happened.
