how do you accelerate with your fit?
how do you accelerate with your fit?
i have a fit sport and its definitely more different to drive a fit than lets say a 300 hp nissan truck or a 200hp honda prelude or odyssey. so im wondering how does every accelerate with their fit? i almost floor it after the light turns green. is that safe? are you suppose to step it slowly?

Edit: Yes, when you floor it you increase wear on the internals just like any car. I would suggest you not dog it every time. But hey its your car

i see. well im young so i dont really have the patience to go slowly. sometimes it too slow and the cars behind you are edgy so they honk you. well i guess i gotta go slower on acceleration for the sake of my fit sport
i have a titan also. you drive it like whatever way you want. just dont expect it to be a drag racer and do expect mpg's to drop if you drive it hard.

. Believe me I'm not much older then you (at most 4yrs). as for the patience... thats why im thinking of upgrading to something with a little bit more balls.
i didn't necessarily say i had a titan. its actually a frontier. i dont how many horses that thing has so im guessing 300. but before that my parents had a titan. it was too big for them so they downsided to the frontier. still good though
The fit is certainly not very 'fast' but I find it accelerates well in normal driving....keep it between 4,500-5,500 for decent 'go', and down into 5th when your done. With the basic bolt-ons, this is the power band that is 'optimized' with our little engine.

Optimized as in most power per gallon? I think I lose power when it gets that high. Why does the manual suggest shifting at what amounts to 3500 rpm's then?

The engine power curve begins to drop beyond 5,800, due to the design of the heads & cam. By optimized, I do mean power, as peak torque is happening around 4,500 through 5,500...shifting in this range produces 'quick' results, if desired. Otherwise, the sweetspot for 'moderate' accel seems to be between 2,800 and 3,500. This is where I spend most of my time, and again, get into 5th when done.
My earlier point is that the bolt ons like the T1R parts seem to bolster the engine's power between the 4-5k range. To date I've observed that the bolt-ons shift the power curve 'UP' but not to the right (increase RPM). Add in a different cam to shift the power curve up and to the right..but note that sooner or later, this path will sacrifice the great low-end power that this engine makes from the factory.
