a sport with 5 manual is difficult but not impossible to find. i have a sport 5 speed. the more picky you are about the harder it will be though. i got a SSM.....tends to be the most produced color too.

How rare is a MT Sport?

Not as rare as a base MT! Base models are produced in much fewer numbers than the sport. Add to the fact that a majority of the base models have AT and you can see finding a base w/ MT is a lot more difficult.

You can call me stupid, but I had a deposit on a SSM base manual last month. I reconsidered and switched the deposit on a SSM sport manual that's coming in next month.

There is *TWO* black Base Model Fits with M/T transmission at Honda Cars of Corona for anyone interested.

I myself am still holding out for a TW, MR, or SSM Fit Sport M/T..

a 6th gear would be so wonderful. I would imagine fuel economy would be near 50mpg hwy if i could cruise at 1,5K at 65mph.

*sigh* what a dream.
Drives like a European car (or all the ones I have owned). 3k on tach = approx 100kph/60mph in top gear.

We have been spoiled by US spec Toyota and Honda automatics that will sit at 2K or less at such a speed....but they downshift constantly.

Your fuzzy math made me think about the del Sol in my garage, and encourages me to keep it even more.

It is a 97 (final year) VTEC in Red.

Supposedly they brought no more than 800 here...some say 750. Mine is serial 000717.

Figure they made 750 for the year. Three colors: Red, Black and Green. That means 250 per color if they distributed evenly. 50 states means 5 per state in each color.

Figure at least 10% were beaten to death or wrecked and 50% or more were riced out to the point of where they'd be better off dead.

I think I'll keep my prime bone stock example.

It is cool to think that my Black Fit Sport 5 Speed is probably a lot more rare than I ever would have expected.

I called my local dealer on Wednesday and said that I wanted a NHBP Sport 5M. They found one 200 miles away that afternoon, did a dealer transfer Thursday, and I picked it up Friday afternoon. Paid MSRP and they threw in FIT carpet mats and the "protection package" that was already on the car. I think it's just a Teflon Honda wax and some sort of scotch-guard protection for the inside.

I'm very happy with it 24 hours after the purchase. Plus I got 5.99% financing from my credit union!
