Girlfriend finds you a Fit Sport MT = a keeper

So i was screwed out of my VBP i was promised from a dealer im currently working for and for the past week my girlfriend has pretty much been non stop calling every honda dealer in the PA/NJ/NY region. So today she gets some luck and finds 2 Black MT and 1 silver. Silver was origonally my first choice while VBP is actually my current top choice. But figures, the silver one is being asked to pay 16215. I am getting really angry of dealers that have one "coming" or can be ordered and here within the week. Should i just pay the overpriced bastards? What is MSRP for the Sport MT?

$15,170 is MSRP on a Manual Sport. See if you can work them down. I would think you could. What dealer was this, if you don't mind my asking?

And I agree. She's a keeper...

Yep, the MSRP is 15170, but that's not including the standard Honda destination charge, which I *think* is now $595 (I paid $550 for this, but it's been raised up a bit by Honda since I ordered the car.

So the 'true' MSRP including Destination is $15765 (assuming the $595 dest$ is right - the Honda site should have the exact $$ for this). Then you add in Tax + license on top of that.

You should check and see what your quoted amount includes - if you're (very) lucky, it's out the door. If it's just for the car, the number above is what you want to shoot for - good luck!

Just got off the phone with them, it seems as though the 16,215 is MSRP + Destination Charge + Some stupid stuff that im not even sure of such as: pin stripping (wtf?), locking wheel caps (nice i guess?) And he mentioned some other stuff. Honestly i dont care, after i took into consideration that the destination fee was included then it makes things a little better. Tax was NOT included in teh price which kind of sucks but oh well ive seen people getting ripped off, right now i jsut want the car. Also they mentioned not even being able to do a trade in on my 1999 civic ex with 192,182 miles since it had so many miles. Worst case scenario, they dont take it, i end up selling it for double the price on my own. So unless they have a crazy APR they're trying to stick to me, then the fit is mine. Im leaving work right now to go to Lakewood NJ (forgot name of dealer)

If they want $16215 for a sport, that's only $450 over MSRP+dest. That's not a bad deal. I had a dealer (in CT) that wanted $1700 over MSRP+dest.

I'm waiting (I put a $500 deposit) until Apr 15-May15 for a black MT sport rather than pay an extra $1700. I wouldn't wait if I only had to pay the $450. Go for it. That's not much of a markup for such a desirable car.

I am amazed at Honda for bringing the Fit to the US without being able to deliver. They could be making huge $ if they could meet the demand.

Other stuff that you should get them to throw in if it's not already there. You will want:
1) Floor mats (get the all season ones)
2) Cargo cover

Both of these should be standard but aren't. The cargo cover and mats add up to about $200 at decent internet prices, e.g. Bernardiparts.com, etc. MSRP on these is quite a bit higher.

If these were included, you can rest easier knowing that ~$200 of the ~$450 premuim you paid went to things that you'll actually want to have on the car and would likely have eventually spent anyway.

If they try to jack you with a really crappy APR walk away. That will cost you a lot more in the long run than a bigger markup will........

pin stripping is like late 80s stuff....they pretty much put a stip of a color (not your choice probably) along the body line.

not the best looking exterior deal i think.

So yea just got back from the dealer and they totally wasted my time. Apparently since my mother is signing for the car and im cosigning (because insurance for a 19 year old with a new car is a little high), well the person we were workign with told us that transfering power of atorrney was no problem, and they coudl just have my mother fax in the info. That was a lie or a "missunderstanding". Anyways the dealer said they didnt have a number to contact us, and tell us. And thats when my girlfriend picked up the notebook in front of them and showed that they had our numbers printed on the worksheet. Anyways, guy was an a-hole. Saying my mother who is rather sick would have to drive 3 hours up to sign the damn papers. I told him that their sales assosiate was a lieing jerk and asked why i shoudl even buy from there.

To wrap it up, the car was $16,214 for a Storm Silver Metalic Sport MT. Thats including destination fee and a "trim package". Trim package can kiss my butt, it looks like weather stripping on the door, wheel well, and there is a small black pinstriping going down the sides. Im sure i could get rid of it all, and these guys were total jerks (offered me half for my trade in as everywhere else). But really, i doutb i'll be able to find this anywhere else with a resonable price, and i could probably make 1,000 more on my trade in if i craigslisted it.

PLEASE HELP? Advice anyone?

P.S- i think i might have convinced them to deliver it to me in Philadelphia on monday, with it tinted for free.

Just got home from North Jersey (put exactly 100 miles on it just tonight). Got it for 16,214 because of stupid pin stripping and molding that i had taken off anyways but didnt lower the price. Oh well. Im happy
