The door sticker says 30 combined for my 2010 AT Sport, for which I am getting an actual 30 to 31. I simply don't believe all the hype from the folks saying they are getting 40+.

The ENTIRE automobile industry already does everything they can do to raise MPG figures. Wouldn't honda engineers jump all over a Fit getting 45+, so they could apply the same variables to all of their other cars? And with modern manufacturing tolerances, I can't believe there is that much randomness built into each individual model that could explain this.

I believe the randomness comes from our different commutes, modifications, and flat out distorting the truth. If there does happen to be a grain of magic fairy dust added to someones car that affects fuel economy (a mechanical variance), I would expect that it would hurt fuel economy, rather than help it.

If u are in so cal and want to put 28$ bucks in the tank il take u for a 400 mile Cruz on my day off to prove my point which I have done two other times I get 40-45 mpg hw but city I'm now getting if I'm lucky 26mpg

My driving takes me on long 2 laners with lights being pretty far inbetween, but once closer to work I hit some lights and go up and over a pretty large bridge, so I feel it balances out. I never go by the OBC for my mileage, but I will say the computer is usually about .5 mpg off, so its surprisingly accurate but reads higher though:cool:

I got 35.1 mpg on the freeway when the car had about 2500 miles on it going 75 mph coming out of Chicago and going to Detroit. On the way home I put the cruize on 70 mph and hit 39.4 mpg. I'm going back home this weekend and will keep you guys updated as to what happens now that I've got about 3800 miles on my Fit:wavey:

So I'm not disputing that you have gotten 40 before. However, I would like to know how you did it? Is it the route you are taking? Did you remove weight? Or.. less likely, did the fuel economy fairy bless your car?

Lol yeah that's one he'll of a drive lol my driving is 99% freeway most of the time for work I drive over 200 miles a night my friend has a ssm 09 but mt and is getting close I cruse about 65 on the freeway lol I look good in the slow lane. I have the drop in k&n and 2 1/2 from the cat back to a wicked flow muffler. I have more weight my box for my subs weighs over 100 lbs with out the subs in. Since my friend mike has the k&n and the same exhaust as me we have kept close. I get a little better because I never use more than 25% gas unless in the city because city driving drives me crazylol

My gfs best tank in my car was 41 mpg my best was 57 but I crused with a tailwind and under a semi for 135 miles

used to get 34-36 mpg 1st-2nd year of ownership 80hwy:20city. Now I've been getting 29-31mpg 50hwy:50city.. not driving conservative either. Haven't seen 38+ mpg in a long long time whcih definitely requires conservative driving and majority highway miles.

So that makes more sense.

There appears to be many fit owners, like myself, that wallow in pity because our 31 mpg could look like we got a bad copy when compared to the 40+ others can get (assuming all things are equal). The thing is, I don't think the 40+ crowd is always forthcoming with the mods or drivng conditions that they encounter.

So while we are on the subject... if the air filters and exhaust can offer better mpgs, why are the manufacturers not including this technology as standard? Especially on a car that is mostly marketed for it's fuel efficiency? Are there drawbacks, like dirty air or bad emissions?

sorry to bring to life and old thread - but i read through everyone's post and i must agree with the 30-35mpg and also can agree with the 40mpg some are claiming. i havent really noticed what i get, but i noticed i was getting ready to fill up every 390-410 miles on my drive to Florida back in 2007. i will start to keep an eye on my mpg's and see if i fall in line with some of you guys.

my question in all this.....what octane do you guys use on your Fits? 87, 89, 93??....i have always gone with 89 until my last fill up in which i went with 87.

93 and get 29.9 mpg around town. keep a arecord since 14,557 miles 11/3/9 and am now @ 21776 averaging 29.9. low was 25.98mpg 1/4/10 (new toy E.T.C.) and highest was 36.6 mpg 5/28/10 on a hiway trip. Have gotten higher mpg but not documented, so that is not backed up.

15,000 kms and 1096 litres. Works out to 38.5 mpg Imperial or 32 US or 7.3L/100km.

Sticker says 40 city and 51hwy. At least 75% of my driving is hwy. I suspect driving at 115-120kph instead of 100 has something to do with it besides wanting to hear the HKS when pulling away from most lights.

Still I am quite happy with the mileage. And it is fun to drive. I can imagine how poor it would be if I had a manual in addition to the tickets I would likely be picking up.

i have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport A/T with 23,400 miles on it. i live in South Florida, Fort Lauderdale, and from March till October or November, i am running my A/C full blast All the time which brings down my gas mileage to around 29-30 MPG.
from December to February when the temperatures are in the 70's, my mileage climbs to around 35-36 MPG.
and most of my driving is city...i would say somewhere around 60% city and 40% highway...sometimes it's 70% city and 30% highway.
i drive from Fort Lauderdale north to Daytona beach once a month to visit my mom and brothers and it is a good 4 hour drive.
driving 65 MPH the whole way to get better fuel economy, i averaged 42 MPG!!!
to say the least i was shocked...but it could be better. let me explain
going about 65 MPH, the tachometer showed around 2500 RPM. i know there is a way to reprogram shift points and reprogram the top gear Revs so that if i am going 65 MPH, the RPM will fall to around 1900 or 2000.
not only would this possibly increase gas mileage, but it would make the car more quieter at highway speeds

Shift points possibly, but top end is in the gears. My MT is showing 600RPM more at that speed.

Even with the hot ass summer we've had this summer in Chicago, with the air on and in mixed driving, my car gets anywhere from 30.5/33.5, that's what I've gotten the past 2 fill-ups;)

I'm on my fourth tank of gas and averaging 24.7 mpg. Not good. My Civic was getting around 31.

I've been maintaining a spreadsheet since I had the reflash to correct the indicated mpg error, so I now have consumption data for about 9 months.

Unfortunately, most of the car's usage is in heavy Atlanta traffic, which drops gas mileage. Overall, EPA gas mileage figures seem to be pretty much spot on.

I'ved noticed that I used to get 35-39 mpg average when commuting freeway 80% of the time, this is true when using 60 freeway in california, on the 22 and 57 and 91 I don't notice my mpg being as high as it should, possibly because of traffic and road conditions.. I've been averaging around 29-31mpg ever since I stopped using the 60.

I'd say in 4 months of ownership, I was getting almost spot on EPA estimated gas mileage. With a very evenly mixed combination of highway and city driving I was getting about 30 mpg's. I'd watch the average fuel mpg gauge and be getting 28 around town, and 31 or higher on the highway. So almost spot on.

However, I would say, that I was running my tires at 35psi. Last 2 tanks I noticed a drop off in MPG. Not bad, but dropped from tankful averages in the 30's...to tankful averages 28's....

I checked my tires and rather inexplicably they all were down below manufacturer PSI of 33. So I re-inflated to 35 psi..and my mileage immediately improved.

I like 35psi all around. Seems to give me a tangible 2-3 mpg improvement, and IMO isn't much harsher than 33 psi. I like the way The Fit handles at 35psi. Plus as only a 2 psi increase, it gives me plausible deniabilty when dealing with the service department if they say anything about the tires not being at the recommended 33 psi.

I wonder why some get really bad mpg? Ive got my Fit 3 months ago and got 32 mpg delivering pizza for the first month. After that It went up too 33 - 34
mpg in 90% in-town driving and roughly 13k miles on it already. Did I mention Hard pizza delivery type driving.
