Perhaps. I put my deposit down about 2 weeks ago. They got me to the showroom by telling me that the car would be in within a few days. A week later, they said the delivery date was 06/28/07. They just happened to trade a Civic for the exact same car that I wanted, and I took delivery on the 27th, the day before the one on order was "supposed" to arrive. When I got to the dealer, I asked him when the one on order would arrive (just out of curiosity,) and he was not sure. He said next week sometime, maybe. A few days turned into a few months weeks quickly!

I got lucky on my delivery in Dallas. Every dealer that I went to only had a couple Fits in stock but not in the combination that I wanted. I didn't care about the color but wanted a 5 speed sport. I kept finding only base models or sports with automatics. Luckily on a repeat visit to my closest Honda dealer ship they told me they were getting a Storm Silver Metallic sport manual shipped in. SOLD. A week later I took delivery of it. I was even the only customer to ever test drive it as it was being held for me. I thought that was pretty cool.

I ordered mine on 6/25, but it was already on the way (the dealer showed me a list of expected deliveries over the following few weeks). Got a call on 6/28 that it had arrived and was prepped for delivery, and I picked it up on 6/29. (Of course, I saw an identical black Fit Sport AT on Friday 6/22 and took the weekend to think about it, and by the time I went back on Monday 6/25 it was gone!)

I went in on 6/28 to the dealer, they had several base models and several Sport A/T's but I was set on a Sport Manual. The salesman tried to talk me into the sport automatic, so I drove it, but it just wasn't the same as a manual tranny. So the salesman ended up calling 10 dealerships that the locator said had a sport manual and it was the 10th and last one that finally had one that wasn't spoken for! So they went and got it that night and I took delivery the next day! I got lucky as the next one on the truck wasn't coming in till August!

So I'm now the proud owner of a MR/MT Fit Sport.

When I got mine, the Fit was so new that I had drove 3 of them in Oklahoma City before driving to Dothan, Alabama to purchase mine right off their lot. They had not even done the PDI on it yet. The salesmen had no clue what the hell it was. They had not even received their promotional booklets yet. I got it for $500 over dealer invoice. I used to work there back in 1999. All of the shops up here in OKC are getting full retail for them and folks can't test drive them; they just have to put money down on them and drive it when theirs arrives.....now that's some BS for a little econobox. Meanwhile, Toyota is selling more than 2 Yaris to every 1 Fit.

It's here! It's here!

My Fit finally arrived.

May 5 - put down a deposit and ordered my red manual transmission sport
July 19 - picked her up

It took 75 days from ordering it to receiving it. The dealer was not expecting a red MT sport in any time soon so my order was a request to build one. The wait was long but I think it was worth it!

About to become a FitFreak! Finally...

Well, I've read all you're stories, I guess it's time to tell mine. After returning from a deployment in late May. I began shopping for a Civic for my wife. In the process, I discovered the BOM 5MT... Planned to buy both but had to wait a couple of days for the loan apps to go thru. The Fit was sold during that time. I know, should have put down a deposit. But gimme a break, I'd been in the Persian Gulf for 8 months... I didn't know these things were that hot! Anyway, wife got the Civic and I ordered a BOM 5MT (with a deposit). Dealer told me mid-August delivery. Well, I stopped by the dealer today and asked about the delivery date and sure enough it will be here in a couple of weeks... A brand new BOM 5AT. Oops! They ordered the wrong one. Next stick will be in sometime in October. Got my deposit back and drove over to a new Honda dealer that just opened up Monday. Guess what they have... 23 Fits (mix of base/sport) 3 of the Sports are sticks, and one of those is BOM. It has 3 miles on it, fresh off the truck. Deposit is paid, paperwork in process, pick up on Monday. This particular dealer is paying the sales tax on all new car sales this weekend! Wait for it... excluding Fits... But I did get it for MSRP and a decent deal on my trade. The wait is almost over. Thanks for all your entertaining stories!

Ken

The low inventory must be an American thing and not Canadian. I went to look at a Fit on a Saturday. Went back on Monday...and asked what Fit Sports they had in stock with 5MT. They had 2 in stock...one silver the other BOM. Haggled them down $350 off list and then signed the paperwork. Picked it up the next day!

waited 3-4 weeks, I've seen a bunch of fits around lately though. At first it was mainly sport models but now a lot more base/LX.

On July 19th I didn't know what a Fit was. On July 20th I was driving by a Honda dealership and saw it and thought "what the hell is that?!" Went into the dealership and he told me something about if I bought it now he would waive the market adjustment. I came in the next day(July 21) and told the same salesman that I would would write a check for $16,000 for the Orange Sport manual sitting in the showroom floor........and I now drive a fit.....an orange one.

I test drove the FIT last Sunday, 8/12 - they had several FIT Sports in stock (including black, white, metallic orange, blue and silver!!!) BUT i wanted MILANO RED baby!!! And I got it - picked it up just 5 days later on Friday 8/17!! I'm located in Brooklyn but went to the dealer in Queens because the sales people at Honda Bay Ridge are A$$HOLES!!!! Has anyone ever heard of a dealership refusing to let you test drive on weekends?!!! Who the hell has time during the work week?! OH WELL! they lost out on the sale!

Congrats - I live in Manhattan and it's been a GREAT city car. FYI, if you got it at Paragon in LIC I've had a very good experience dealing with them so far.

Thanks! I'm loving it! I got it at Paragon as well - they were good (meaning as good as a car dealership could be). i threw them off a bit as you know how sharks sales people can be in general but esp when they see a woman! i knew what i was willing to pay, had financing already set with my credit union, so it was smooth sailing. how has your mileage been so far? i'm not sure if i'm calculating incorrectly but i don't think i'm getting even 30/g. so far i had to refill after going 200 miles :\

one week. a dealer nearby had the car I wanted. I wanted an auto blue fit sport - untouched - which is very hard to find around here, everyone puts a pinstripe or extra coatings or this or that to jack up the price. I wasn't going to stand for that.

but yeah, one week. I'm impressed.

Yeah, as people have noted extensively here, the 32/38 mileage estimates are optimistic at best (I think honda even revised the mpg downward for 2008). My mileage was so-so the first 2 tanks - 25.1 and 25.8, almost all Manhattan driving. it has gotten somewhat better since then, and now I'm consistently getting 28-29, more if i take it to jersey on weekends (best to date is 31). Us cityfolk have to remember that NO car except a hybrid is going to get great mileage while idling at a standstill on the BQE or in Midtown traffic, much less in the thick of summer with the AC on. Just enjoy it for the great car it is and try not to obsess over numbers too much (easy for me to say, since my old car got a whopping 16 mpg in the city!).

It took about 2.5 weeks and getting it delivered from Montana to Iowa but it was well worth it. I was really hoping to get the Fit sport manual in the taffeta white but finding that color now is almost impossible. I settled for the storm silver metallic. It is a great car and I enjoy every minute in it

i went to the dealership like 4 days ago and they said it was at the docks...just waiting for a transport to the dealership, yep, just sitting there

I'm in Canada and I bought mine straight off the lot. They had the perfect car in the basement.

I got my car on the spot too. Good thing I live in an area with a lot of dealers. Basically, if one didn't have it, someone else did. That, and they were more willing to drop the price! :]
